The 18-Year Journey of "Wilde Renate"
This isn’t just a track; it’s a lifetime of sonic archaeology. "Wilde Renate" is a bridge spanning nearly two decades, three distinct eras of my life, and the connection between Romania and Berlin.
The Timeline
2007 | The Spark: The female vocals I layered into the track are from the very first song I ever wrote. These lyrics have been waiting 18 years to find their final home.
August 2018 | The Memory: In a studio in Brașov, Romania, my old friend and guitarist Sebastian Lala recorded a part that appears throughout the track—a recurring echo of where I came from.
August 2025 | The Rebirth: The story culminates in Berlin, inside a studio at Salon Zur Wilden Renate, just one week before my "soul club" closed its doors.
The Analog Spirit
The track’s gritty, authentic character comes from a collection of analog instruments my friend Kat salvaged from a shipping container she bought from a stranger in Berlin.
The session was a magnet for spontaneous energy:
The Neighbor: A guy from the studio next door stopped by to lend us a microphone, ended up singing on the session, and I wove my 2007 vocals over his playing to create a new narrative.
The Final Polish: I mixed the track myself, with Răzvan {Utip} stepping in to add the drum layers that finally anchored the 2007 vocals, the 2018 guitar, and the 2025 analog synths.
From the first words I wrote in 2007 to the final nights of a Berlin legend in 2025, "Wilde Renate" is a tribute to the persistence of art and the gear that finds us along the way.
