After taking a break over the winter holidays, we are back with a somewhat spicy 9th episode. We begin with the topic of geotagging on social media and its impact on the popularity of outdoor locations. We then branch out into a bit of a scattered discussion on gatekeeping the outdoors.
Tune in to our latest episode to hear us rant yet again! This time, we sprinkle in quite a few personal anecdotes about times we have tried to fight gender norms or stand up to sexism in the outdoors... and not always succeeded.
We had the privilege of chatting with Ally, an ultra-marathon runner, cyclist, snowboarder, hiker, and all-around athletic superstar. On this episode, you'll hear all about her go-getter attitude and "why not?" approach to life.
On Episode 6, we talk to our friend Noella, who is a climber, arborist, whitewater canoeist, and all-around outdoor enthusiast. In addition to telling us about some of the rad shit she's been up to recently, she also shares some of her negative experiences with other women in the outdoors. However, these experiences haven't tainted Noella's friendly and approachable nature, which really shines through on this episode.
In this episode, Emma and Allie chat together about what they think a "bro" really is, how they interpret the meaning and identity behind the term "basic bitch," and what they believe men can do to be allies to the women in their lives.
Need life advice? Look no further - this episode is full of Julie's wisdom. She is an outdoor enthusiast, climber, artist, and amazing mom. In this episode you will hear her perspectives on many different topics, which ultimately all connect back to the idea of being your most authentic self. Enjoy!
In Episode 3, we chatted with Emma's roommate, Speed. She is just as badass as her name implies; a true backcountry woman. Tune in to hear her talk about competitive climbing, route setting, and safety while backcountry skiing.
For our second episode, we chatted with all-around outdoor badass, Tara. She is a recently trained whitewater raft guide, as well as an avid mountain biker, skier, climber, and wakeboarder. She does all this while living out of her car in Squamish, BC.
Join us for our very first episode, where we introduce ourselves and chat with our pal Sydney. She shares some of her experiences breaking into outdoor hobbies and some of the challenges that come with that. Also included: awkward beginnings and lots of Whiteclaws.
