Looking back at all that has been studied from Chapter 2. Summarily, Paul identifies what God has accomplished through Jesus Christ, what the believer has in Him, and how believers are to walk by faith in God's instruction, not man's ideas, standards, teachings, or traditions.

Chapter two closes out summarizing the reality that man's teachings and commandments, the rituals he espouses, and the beliefs and morals of society, all fail to keep the flesh from being indulged. They are the flesh and can't fight the flesh. Only walking in fellowship with God in accordance with the wisdom and knowledge found in Christ has any merit in this life, including keeping the believer away from fleshly indulgences.
