About a year ago I heard “Let’s all pray for this world” by Perry Farrell, and it immediately resonated with me.

I felt if ever there was a time we needed prayer it was then, which was PRIOR to a global pandemic, record unemployment, and worldwide race protests.

Today, let’s all stop, take a breath, and express a prayer.

Today, let’s release our fears to a power greater than ourselves and trust that everything will evolve as it should to the best and highest for all.

Today, let’s know that out of chaos comes order, out of wounds come healing, and out of hate comes love.

Today, I’ll teach you a simple, non-religious method of prayer that will make you feel good and that will create a positive impact in our world.

Today, let’s pray.

People use the word “feelings” incorrectly most of the time.

They say, “I feel” when they actually mean “I think” as in “I feel we should do this.”

And even when they use the word “feel” correctly, they don’t identify the feeling in their body such that they can become aware of the sensations and energy the feeling creates.

Today, let’s get in touch with our feelings and how our body reacts to feelings we experience.

More importantly, let’s learn how to manage our bodily sensations (feelings) such that we are less reactive and more happy.

After yesterday’s JumpStart, I felt incomplete.

 

Although I shared some of the dark history of my family’s racism and the idea that no one seems to spot their own racism, I felt like I should have gone deeper offering suggestions and advice to spot our biases.

 

In almost every culture, there is a group (either race or religion) in power and an “other” who is often described as being unethical, unclean, uneducable, and immoral.

 

Using those prejudices over and over, cultures have been divided along racial and religious lines throughout history.

 

If we want to open ourselves up to a new reality, we need to change our beliefs and open  our minds and hearts to others.

 

Let’s JumpStart race and explore how we can come together as the one and only human race.

During the filming of the original Planet of the Apes movie in 1968, a surprising social experiment took place.

Hundreds of extras were made up to be either a chimp, a gorilla, or an orangutan and not only did their appearance change but so did their social order.

I’ll explain what happened but more importantly I’ll give you a fine-tuned understanding of how it helps us understand George Floyd’s murder and the protests going on around the world.

If you’re sickened by what’s happening, this will give you perspective and peace.

We can write down our goals, journal, pray, have a coach, and still we will not accomplish what we want if we don’t expect to do so.

Expectation is a powerful force that is linked to faith.

If I lives aren’t working, it’s time to change our expectations.

And, only you can change them.

Starting today, let us expect better so that the things we receive are truly great, rather than grate on our nerves.

Psychologists all agree that human beings are driven by a negativity bias.

And it makes sense because being on the defense is what has kept human beings alive — defending ourselves against nature and defending ourselves against each other.

In my opinion, things are the way they are because we have not evolved past our negativity bias.

Negativity plus tribalism equals chaos.

Have you ever heard of a type of bird called a frigate?

I hadn’t, until I moved to the Florida keys and now I see them all the time and they are amazing!

With wingspans of up to 8 feet, the frigate is built to spend it’s life on the air drifting from one wind current to the next never coming down even to eat or sleep.

I’m working on becoming an emotional frigate.

I want to keep my emotions soaring for longer periods of time and not let other birds bring me down.
