For the 4th Sunday of Advent, Pastor Mike Weaver explores Isaiah 7:10–16 and Matthew 1:18–25, contrasting the responses of Ahaz’ short-term, fear-driven, self-reliant view, with Joseph’s long-term view, obedient to God’s command despite personal risk. We learn that faith requires lifting our eyes beyond immediate problems to God’s promises; that God’s signs confirm faith, not create it and that true faith is stepping into the unknown. Oh, and most importantly that Advent reminds us of the ultimate sign—Jesus, Immanuel—God’s presence with His people. So, as we approach Christmas, choose obedience over disobedience, God’s view over yours. Pray for revival and trust that the Lord is with us—today and into the coming year.
