The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals hears arguments in Williams v. Big Picture Loans, No.18-1827, in Richmond, Virginia, on May 7, 2019.
The appeal centers on online lending entities owned by the Lac Vieux Desert Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and whether they are entitled to sovereign immunity as arms of the tribe.
The case was heard by a panel of three judges: Roger L. Gregory, G. Steven Agee and Albert Diaz.
