Win the Day: Five Minutes with Pastor Nat Crawford on Oneplace.com

Jesus' compassion called Him to some very unsavory, even dangerous, places. To heal the sick, He walked among them. And in preaching the Good News, He roused the anger of many against Him. So how are we as Christians today supposed to exercise compassion? According to David Platt, the answer is simple: In exactly the same way. We'll learn more about how to be compassionate Christians, utterly reliant upon God's provision.

As Jesus became more well known, crowds of people began following Him. And in the Gospels we read that Jesus had compassion for these people. David Platt takes a look at what it takes to have radical compassion in our own lives. As we see how Jesus demonstrated His compassion, we'll learn how to incorporate that into our own lives, and into our churches.

When Jesus called the first disciples, he made it abundantly clear that they were being called to a life of radical sacrifice. And, as David Platt explains, the offer to follow and requirements still stand today. As we continue looking at the requirements to be a disciple of Jesus, we'll see what it means (and doesn't) to take up our cross. And we'll consider the impact we can have on the world we live in once we are fully committed to living for Christ.

Are you willing to come to Jesus on His terms? That's the question David Platt poses as he encourages us to take a hard look at Jesus' requirements for being His disciple. As we begin to look at these requirements, we'll understand that the focus of the Christian life is solely on Jesus and His mission, and not on our own. Specifically, we'll see what it means to love God with all of our heart and mind.

What is the mission of the Christian in the modern world? What role is the church to play? And are we even coming close to fulfilling those missions? David Platt considers these and other questions as we continue to examine the demands the Gospel places on those who call themselves Christians.
