She then offers resources for coming to or growing in your faith, encouraging you to check out Encounter and Pentecost USA.  Lauretta then welcomes guest and former co-host Mary FioRito to discuss Catholic Awards Standards & Procedure to discuss the vetting and validations that must be followed in order for awards to be made in the name of the Church.  Their discussion helps us understand the importance of the vetting process that are required for awards to be made as they represent the Church.

With God and prayer, you can get through today and each day, but you must be humble and accept this reality and build a relationship with the Lord. The group discusses love, relationships and the practicality of life that one must consider. Father reminds us that life is not easy, was not intended to be but that we need to allow God to liberate us and allow His will for our lives to be.

Father Anthony leads us in much needed prayer to open the show.  Afterward he welcomes Alice Babij (pronounced Bobby) of the St Nicholas Ukrainian Cathedral.  She joins Father to discuss the life, the miracles, the wonderful short life story of one of our newly canonized saints: Saint Carlo Acutis (1991-2006).  Alice shares the huge impact Carlo Acutis had in his short life of 15years as captured in the book “My Highway to Heaven” by Rev Scott Haynes.  Carlo Acutis’ message encourages people to remain unique to themselves.  The hope is that this current day saint can be a true model for our youth today.

Welcome to a Brain Wrinkling Wednesday with Fr. Tom Koys.  Today Father speaks regarding the quote which led the Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show to be removed from the air.  He unpacks the quote and multiple interpretations of it that have dominated TV and social media.  After this, he shares his presentation of Jacques Marquette which he will present at the Heritage Festival this weekend on September 27th in Bourbonnais Illinois.  If you’re in Bourbonnais Illinois, join him at the Heritage Festival. After prayer the trio speaks regarding language for a bit that leads into culture and labels.  After the break Father refers to the words of St. Anthony the Great “A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him, saying “You are mad; you are not like us.” They discuss this as Father unpacks the words.  Father Anthony chats about the positive impression he gathered from the Celebration of Life for Charlie Kirk.  They end the show on the thought of persons not praying because they believe that if they are in grave sin that God will not hear them, but that is false. God is open to all including sinners and all should pray to Him.

Father Anthony refers to the morning school mass and the large number of older persons present as he celebrated Grandparents Day today at mass (celebrated on September 13th in the US).  The group chats about grandparents and the crucial role they play in our lives both American and Polish traditions.  Father did take the opportunity to remind the students to step away from social media in order to spend time with their grandparents. After prayer, Father speaks regarding the celebration of the Lady of Sorrows which was observed on September 15th. He questions Cristina and finally, Tony too, regarding what are the 7 sorrows our Lady suffered.

He speaks of the past and of how we’ve come to today regarding the mass, the parts, and how they come together and how we can actively participate to glorify God where we take the focus away from ourselves. We come to mass to honor and praise Him, to receive Him and offer thanks.  After the break father shares the words of St. Cornelius and St. Cyprian, who’s feast day was celebrated on Sept.16th.

Welcome to a Brain Wrinkling Wednesday with Fr. Tom Koys.  Today Father open with reflection on what has happened over the last week with so much going on in the world. He focuses on speaking about optimism and pessimism in Catholicism. He uses Narnia to help offer insight on how to be optimistic as a Christian in a world in a time when a lot of negative, pessimistic stuff is going on.  To be optimistic is not really the virtue of Christian Hope, because Christian Hope includes hope in a power above and beyond us.  That’s why we can never deny the cross, never make fun of it as many people are carrying the cross. The spirit of always being upbeat and happy at Catholic mass doesn’t seem to fit because part of the mass is to give us the supernatural hope of God’s ability to conquer the problem and walking with us in our sorrows.
