In this episode we discuss and debate the first true cynic. A man who was truly the top dog of his trade. Or so we're told. There's a man, a myth and a legend. Today we discuss who was this man? Who was the man with the ragged cloak and a cutting wit? A man talked about over 2000 years later?

Originally, we wanted to do the history of Cynicism, but we realized 2,000 years worth of Cynic history is not feasible in a few episodes. So, we decided to dicuss the development of the ideas of Cynicism (pre-Diogenes)
Dio and Gene have a dialogue and share anecdotes about modern pejorative cynicism while also referencing classical/old Cynicism.
Modern cynicism is not the same as classical/old cynicism. The only thing they share in common is the idea that people are self interested and motivated by their self interest.
