Esther Nicolas and Matthew Regan have been together for 12 years and married for 7 years. They live in Ottawa with their two young children and their chocolate lab. They work on a full-time basis and find their careers very fulfilling. Esther is a French teacher and Matthew is a social worker.  Not long after moving to Ottawa, they bought their first home in 2015 and immediately added a secondary dwelling in the lower level of their bungalow. It was at this time that they fully realized the power of real estate investing. They were truly blown away by the passive income generated by ''house hacking'' and what it could do for their family. While continuing to work full time while self-managing their rental unit, they took a break from active investing for a few years while they were growing their family. During this time, Matthew and Esther invested in getting a more in-depth education in real estate investing.  In 2019, they purchased a townhouse in Ottawa, using the BRRRR method. A few months later, they used the same technique to buy another home in the Ottawa area, detached this time. In 2021, they decided to take their side-hustle to a different level and founded Matter Holdings Corp. They hired a coach to help them scale up and jumped right into multifamily investing.
