Often in the life of the Church, the question of “how we do theology,” has become controversial. Now as we participate in the beautiful life of Great Lent, we are blessed with the commemoration of a great Father in the life of the Church— Saint Gregory Palamas.

For those who are not Orthodox, Palamas is typically a source of great ire and ill-repute. But for the Orthodox, not only does Saint Gregory provide for us some of the most important theological works on the nature of God’s Essence and Energies, Saint Gregory offers the church a formula with which Theology is performed.
