Wisdom from the Rishis ( Arsha Vidya Deepam )

Getting up in the morning with a thought that energizes you throughout the day is something really beautiful.We have got beautiful "dhyana slokas" for the mind to abide in a beautiful form of the Lord as you can hear in this verse. Lord Vishnu in the form of infinite existence. This is an attempt to capture the infinity to describe through words and gives us a form to worship the Lord in our "upasana" as our "ishta devata". Why upasana? How is it connected to the pursuit of knowledge for moksha etc. We will see later on....now just listen to this and relax.

Teacher is not an adviser to give some rules. Teacher makes himself/herself clear by delevering the vision he/she has and brings out the same clarity of thinking and understanding in the student.

II नवग्रह स्तोत्र II 

जपाकुसुम संकाशं काश्यपेयं महाद्युतिम् I 

तमोरिंसर्वपापघ्नं प्रणतोSस्मि दिवाकरम् II १ II 

दधिशंखतुषाराभं क्षीरोदार्णव संभवम् I 

नमामि शशिनं सोमं शंभोर्मुकुट भूषणम् II २ II 

धरणीगर्भ संभूतं विद्युत्कांति समप्रभम् I 

कुमारं शक्तिहस्तं तं मंगलं प्रणाम्यहम् II ३ II 

प्रियंगुकलिकाश्यामं रुपेणाप्रतिमं बुधम् I 

सौम्यं सौम्यगुणोपेतं तं बुधं प्रणमाम्यहम् II ४ II 

देवानांच ऋषीनांच गुरुं कांचन सन्निभम् I 

बुद्धिभूतं त्रिलोकेशं तं नमामि बृहस्पतिम् II ५ II 

हिमकुंद मृणालाभं दैत्यानां परमं गुरुम् I 

सर्वशास्त्र प्रवक्तारं भार्गवं प्रणमाम्यहम् II ६ II 

नीलांजन समाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम् I 

छायामार्तंड संभूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम् II ७ II 

अर्धकायं महावीर्यं चंद्रादित्य विमर्दनम् I 

सिंहिकागर्भसंभूतं तं राहुं प्रणमाम्यहम् II ८ II 

पलाशपुष्पसंकाशं तारकाग्रह मस्तकम् I 

रौद्रंरौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यहम् II ९ II 

इति श्रीव्यासमुखोग्दीतम् यः पठेत् सुसमाहितः I 

दिवा वा यदि वा रात्रौ विघ्न शांतिर्भविष्यति II १० II 

नरनारी नृपाणांच भवेत् दुःस्वप्ननाशनम् I 

ऐश्वर्यमतुलं तेषां आरोग्यं पुष्टिवर्धनम् II ११ II 

ग्रहनक्षत्रजाः पीडास्तस्कराग्निसमुभ्दवाः I 

ता सर्वाःप्रशमं यान्ति व्यासोब्रुते न संशयः II १२ II

This is the sanskrit verses of all the 18 the chapters of the Bhagavad Gita.The unfoldment of the vision of this teachings of Bhagavan Sri Krishna becomes live whenever the teaching takes place between a competent teacher and a qualified student. Amazing vision of Sri Krishna is presented by Vyasa bhagavan through these sanskrit verses which are arranged in the 18 chapters.To hear and to learn the verses makes it familiar to a person before he/she begins his/her studies. Sri Krishna the GitaAcharya is the one who unfolded the vision of the self to his desciple Arjuna.This teachings are known as BhagavadGita and the verses are in 18 chapters also known as upanisad because of the insight which it reveals along with an elaborate discussion on the topic of karma as yoga which will prepare the person to recognise the vision and get fulfilled in life. The sanskrit verses are presented as a part of the Janmashtami celebrations.

The faculty of thinking is something unique in human beings. We have to accept it as a gift and a blessing. That happens only if we make a proper use of it and grow with our age.If aging is simply a biological process the actual growth of a human being is will based and the person has to suggest for oneself and initiate a growth at Emotional and cognitive levels.It is a different dimention of growth which only humans or human like beings can achieve without that achievement human life cannot fulfill its purpose.Let us see whether a purpose exists , and if at all it exists then how to find it in ones life to make the life meaningful and get fulfilled here in this world itself.

The Guru of all the Gurus giving the knowledge to his desciples sitting under the banyan tree with a smiling face and revealing the self through words employed in a special way to communicate and at same time not creating concepts or phylosophies but exactly unfolding the vision intended to be reached by the listener.This is "mauna vyakhya" . "Mouna" is silence "vyakhya" is its unfoldment.Unfolding the subject matter through silence means the words themself do not stick on to the listener . But having done the job they go away. Just as container is not to be taken for the content in it.So too the literal meaning of the words are negated and the actual vision is transfered in the process of teaching. This involves a methodology, which is transfered to the desciple during the process of teaching itself.This method of teaching is known a traditional way of handling the words and delevering the knowledge from Guru to shishya.This teacher to student (Guru to Shishya) is Guru Shishya parampara.The flow of knowledge without any break. Hence it is as fresh as it obtained in the begining so we can say it is ever fresh.The Lord is presented as ever young (yuva).what is taught by the Lord is also ever fresh. It is live because the conscious being is adressed here to make that individual to awake to see the self which is free in its own glory..!! OmTatSat

This is to invoke the gurus grace . These verses are describing the teacher whose compassion and knowledge has blessed our life. Remembering that guru in itself is a prayer and meditation.

This is SankataNashanaGanesha sthotram. To have the grace of the Bhagavan is a requirement for the progress in our pursuit. Especially if it happens to be a spiritual pursuit then it becomes a part of the whole pursuit all the way.So the seekers can learn to do this prayer and get the benifits in terms of their tranquility of the mind and a healthy body. Nothing is free, so too is the grace of the Lord is also that we have to earn it. So over and above our daily duties we have to invoke the grace through prayers either formally or informally. We are blessed with formal prayers which we have to learn.We express our gratitude to the people who gave us these things by learning and preserving it. OmTatSat

we need to have a lot grace of Matha Saraswati to understand the subject matter. Knowledge is a miracle we do not know how does it takes place in the mind or buddhi.All that we know is it requires a lot of grace. You have to earn it as it is not free.So this invokation is to fulfill that requirement
