I had so much fun talking with Gary Leland.  He's fast becoming a legend in the Bitcoin space.  Gary is one of the founders of Bit Block Boom! Most people that begin buying Bitcoin go through the same evolutionary process that ultimately leads to self custody.  That journey looks something like this: 

1. Decide you want to own Bitcoin. 

2. Settle on an exchange you want to buy it from. 

3. Buy Bitcoin. 

4. Leave Bitcoin on an exchange then realize it's not safe there. 

5. Send Bitcoin to a "Hot Wallet," then realize it's not totally save their either. 

6. Send Bitcoin to a "Cold Storage Wallet." 

7. Set up advanced security for your Bitcoin through Multisig 

8. Dollar Cost Average (DCA) into a larger position of Bitcoin 

9. Help others learn what you've learned 

10. Sit back and relax knowing your Bitcoin is safe from theft or loss.

"We the United States are mining the resources of the world and giving them effectively worthless pieces of paper for it.  And that was the moment I realized that Bitcoin is going to be the single greatest transfer of wealth the world...humanity has ever seen."  

Peter Ansell is a young Boomer that has been lucky enough to retire before the age of 60.  His interest in technology at an early age helped him invest/save his way through several financial calamities throughout the years (1989, 1997, 2001 & 2008).  His passion to understand how money works outside the United States and the effects of US Dollar denominated inflation has on those populations is a driving force in his quest for knowledge on a solution and ultimately Bitcoin.  

We also touch on the challenges of discussing Bitcoin with friends and family that don't think about the living standards of "the rest of the world."  To most in the US, Bitcoin currently isn't a necessity in storing value and combatting high inflation rates.  It is more of a speculative "thing" that people day trade if they have extra money... Similar to gambling.  Peter and I look at the value proposition of Bitcoin and comment on peoples lack of knowledge around money and its key characteristics.   

He has a great way to help entice his friends to own Bitcoin.  All they have to do is get a hardware wallet and set it up, then he will transfer them free Bitcoin.  Sounds like a no brainer right?  Crazy thing is, none of his friends or family have taken him up on it!   

We had a great conversation about buying Bitcoin on exchanges and securing in on a hardware wallet.  It's easier than you'd think. Plus a personal story of how I lost some Bitcoin and was able to recover it using my private key words.  The system really work and everyone around the world should learn about Bitcoin and the immense opportunity it provides.

On today's episode, I sit down with @surferjimw and discuss why Bitcoin is freedom money and how the network works.  He was introduced to Bitcoin in 2015 and spent a long time educating himself on the technology and its nuances before buying it himself.  In retrospect, he wished he started buying earlier.  His ability to communicate technical ideas in simplistic terms will make it easy for anyone to follow the conversation.

In this episode I talk with Chris Coffee.  An outspoken man that has seen all walks of life and still believes Bitcoin is the answer to generational wealth.  We discuss his younger years in the streets of Brooklyn and how he learned to keep his head down and hustle (a skill taught by his father) to make a better life for his family.  A self-made man that in his early years didn't worry much about retirement.  Only to realize in his mid 50's that he didn't want to work forever but hadn't saved nearly enough.  

In 2017, he discovered Cryptocurrency through a friend and quickly fell down the Rabbit Hole only to see his quick gains turn to losses by year end.  Starting in 2018 he began putting in the real work and learning everything he could about the cryptocurrency industry.  Didn't take him long before he realized Bitcoin was the only true digital asset in existence and began Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) into a nice nest egg for himself and family.  Since then, he's helped countless friends and family get their start in Bitcoin including helping a friend send money to family in Russia.
