  • Day 1532 – The Farm Inspection – Humor Unplugged
Welcome to Day 1532 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomThe Farm Inspection – Humor UnpluggedWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek! Where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your Captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1532 of our Trek, and time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. Our Thursday podcast will provide a short and clean funny story to help you lighten up and live a rich and satisfying life. Something to cheer you and give a bit a levity in your life. We are told in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+15:30andversion=NLT (Proverbs 15:30) A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health. We are also encouraged in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+17:22andversion=NLT (Proverbs 17:22) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. Consider this your vitamin supplement of cheer for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s funny which is titled:
    The Farm Inspection
You know how regulations seem to be increasing every day; many times, the officers’ power will go to their heads. Agent Smith, a DEA officer, stopped at the Jones farm yesterday and said to farmer Jones, “I need to inspect your farm for illegal growing drugs.” Farmer Jones cocked his head a bit and said, “Okay, but don’t go in that field over yonder.”
DEA Agent Jones DEA verbally exploded, saying, “Mister, I have the authority of the federal government with me!”
Reaching into his rear pants pocket, arrogant Agent Smith removed his badge and shoved it in my face. “See this badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish - on ANY land! No questions asked or answers given! Have I made myself clear?”
Farmer Smith slowly nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores. A short time later, Farmer Smith heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the DEA Agent Smith running for his life, being chased by Farmer Smith’s big old mean bull in the field. With every step, the bull was gaining ground on the officer. Agent Smith was clearly terrified.
Farmer Jones threw down my tools, ran to the fence, and yelled at the top of my lungs, “Your badge, show him your BADGE!!”
I hope that brought a smile to your face today. If it did pass your smile onto some else, we all could use a kind smile each day. Our Thursday thought is, “The cow is nothing but a machine which makes grass fit for us people to eat.
Here is our verse for today:
    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2010%3A3%2D5andversion=NLT (Hebrews 10:3-5)
But instead, those sacrifices actually reminded them of their sins year after year. For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God,
“You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings.
But you have given me a body to offer.

  • Day 1531 – Divine Rebellions – Worldview Wednesday
Welcome to Day 1531 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.I am Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomDivine Rebellions – Worldview WednesdayWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Today is Day 1531 of our Trek, and it is Worldview Wednesday. Creating a Biblical Worldview is essential to have a proper perspective on today’s current events. To establish a Biblical Worldview, you must have a proper understanding of God and His Word. This week, we will expand on the past course work as we continue reviewing the book from Dr. Michael S Heiser titled “Supernatural.” The book is an abbreviated version of his more comprehensive book, “The Unseen Realm.” I highly recommend both of these books. Creating a Biblical Worldview based on how the Old and New Testaments connect with God’s overall plan for humanity is essential. This book review will help us understand what the Bible teaches about the unseen world, and why it matters.
    Divine Rebellions
I ended week’s Worldview Wednesday episode with the thought that free will in the hands of imperfect beings, whether divine or human, can have disastrous results. That’s an understatement. Some catastrophes in the early chapters of the Bible, all of them involving both humans and supernatural beings, illustrate the point.
Recall that God decided to share his authority with both divine beings in the supernatural realm and human beings on earth. That was the backdrop to God’s statement in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis+1%3A26andversion=NLT (Genesis 1:26), “Let us make humankind in our image,” and the fact that God then created humans in His image. Spiritual beings and humans are imagers of God. We share his authority and represent him as co-rulers.
On the one hand, that was an excellent decision. Free will is part of being like God. We couldn’t be like him if we didn’t have it. Without free will, concepts like love and self-sacrifice die. If you are merely programmed to “love,” there is no decision in it. It isn’t real. Scripted words and acts aren’t genuine. Thinking about this takes me back to the last of the original Star Wars movies, The Return of the Jedi. The spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi tells Luke his father, Darth Vader, “is more machine now than man.” Yet, in the end, we find that isn’t true. Vader saves Luke from the emperor at the cost of his own life. Vadar wasn’t just a programmed machine; his decision came from the heart, his humanity—his own free will.
But there’s a dark side to God’s decision. Granting intelligent beings freedom means they can and will make wrong choices or intentionally rebel. That’s guaranteed to happen, since the only truly perfect being is God. He’s the only one he can trust. Free will is why things could, and did, go wrong in Eden.
    Trouble in Paradise
Think about the setting in Eden. Adam and Eve aren’t alone. God is there with his council. Eden is the divine/human headquarters for “subduing” the rest of the earth, as instructed in Genesis 1:26–28. Humans were to spread the life of Eden to the rest of the planet. We learn that at least one member of the council isn’t happy with God’s plans.
Just as we saw in Genesis 1, there are hints in Genesis 3 that Eden is home to other divine beings. In https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis+3%3A22andversion=NLT (Genesis 3:22), after Adam and Eve have sinned, God says: “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil.” That phrase is the same sort of signpost we saw in Genesis 1:26 (“our image”).
We know the main character of Genesis 3, the Serpent, was not a snake. He...

Welcome to Day 1530 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomJoy Is Not Dependent On Things – Wisdom Unplugged Wisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. This is Day 1530 of our Trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from A. P. Gouthey, and it is: Joy is a deep spiritual union with the unchanging God. A man’s life, said Jesus Christ, is not fulfilled, nor is it filled full of, nor by, the abundance of things which he possesses. Here is one of the most important statements ever given to a bewildered, heart-hungry world. Joy, then, is a living spring hidden deep in the inner life that is no more dependent upon things than the sunrise is dependent upon a cock’s crowing.
Joy Is Not Dependent On Things
Everyone seeks joy, but we often look for it in the wrong places. We think that riches, pleasant circumstances, a life void of crises, and getting what we desire will bring us joy. Joy is not dependent on what happens to us. Joy is not dependent on our relationships with our spouse, children, friends, or associates. Joy can only be found in one relationship that supersedes all other relationships. Pure joy can only be obtained through a deep spiritual union with the unchanging God. God, the creator of all things, including creating each one of us to be His imagers, is the only one that can provide unending joy to our lives, regardless of our situation or circumstance.
    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%205%3A2andversion=NLT (Romans 5:2)
Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.

  • Day 1529 – Bible Study – Serious Study as Adults Using Footnotes – Meditation Monday
Welcome to Day 1529 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomBible Study – Serious Study As Adults Using Footnotes – Meditation MondayWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. This is Day 1529 of our Trek, and it is time for Meditation Monday. Taking time to relax, refocus, and reprioritize our lives is crucial in order to create a living legacy. For you, it may just be time alone for quiet reflection. You may utilize structured meditation practices. In my life, Meditation includes reading and reflecting on God’s Word and in prayer. It is a time to renew my mind, refocus on what is most important, and making sure that I am nurturing my soul, mind, and body. As you come along with me on our trek each Meditation Monday, it is my hope and prayer that you, too, will experience a time for reflection and renewing of your mind.
We are continuing our series this week on Meditation Monday as we focus on Mastering Bible Study through a series of brief insights from Hebrew Scholar, Dr. Michael S. Heiser. Our current insights are focusing on accurately interpreting the Bible. Today let us meditate on:
Bible Study – Serious Study As Adults Using Footnotes· Insight Forty-One: Lots of Things in the Bible Can’t Be Understood by Children
I rarely watch television. It’s not because I have some pseudo pious objection to it. For me, it’s a time issue, except when it comes to sitcoms. If I were confined to a bed, I wouldn’t watch a sitcom. I used to love them as a teenager, probably for the same reasons I tend to dislike them now as a parent.
One of my irritations with the sitcom genre is how every adult is portrayed as a half-wit while the kids are endless sources of wisdom and clear-headed thinking. The only skills that mom and dad seem to have are getting into trouble and being smart enough to let their kids extricate them from their problems.
Maybe this is why one of my pet peeves is the notion that the Bible is so simple even a child can understand it. Don’t get the wrong idea—I know’ that the gospel story of Jesus really can be understood at a young age. I’m talking about more than the gospel. As someone who has taught a lot in the local church and through online forums, I’ve heard the expression stated as a duty to avoid thinking. It is implied by many who say, “I just want to love Jesus. Why are you complicating things?” I want to love Jesus too. So I might ask, “Why are you being lazy about knowing God’s Word?”
Serious Bible study takes work. It can be tedious at times. It doesn’t always provide an immediate payoff to address a spiritual struggle or answer a knotty question. Teddy Roosevelt once said, “Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty... I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.” I can relate to this quote. I’ve never wanted to emulate anyone who halted their study of Scripture with what their kids knew. I’ve sought to be like those who put real effort and sacrifice into the enterprise.
As Art Linkletter used to remind television audiences, “Kids say the darnedest things.” They sure do, but I’m not expecting to hear one explain why God told Samuel to deceive Saul’s men (I Samuel 16:1-5), or what Paul thought when he talked about baptism for the dead (1 Corinthians 15:29), or a long list of other things in the Bible. Discovering those answers is for adults.

  • Day 1528 – The Advantages of a Gratitude Mindset – Ask Gramps
Welcome to Day 1528 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomThe Advantages of a Gratitude Mindset – Ask GrampsWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Today is Day 1528 of our Trek, and our focus on Fridays is the future technological and societal advances, so we call it Futuristic Fridays. My personality is one that has always been very future-oriented. Since my childhood, I have yearned for the exploration and discovery of new technologies and advancements for the future. I grew up with the original Star Trek series, and even today, as I am now on my 65th revolution around the sun, I still dream of traveling in space. Each week we will explore rapidly converging technologies and advancements, which will radically change our lives. At times, the topics may sound like something out of a science fiction novel, but each area that we explore is already well on its way of becoming a reality over the next couple of decades.
To keep with our theme of “Ask Gramps,” I will put our weekly topics in the form of a question to get us on track. This week’s question is, Hey Gramps, we have explored having a futuristic and exponential mindset, but you also mentioned a gratitude mindset. With all that is going on in the world today, what are the advantages of a Gratitude Mindset?
The Advantages of a Gratitude Mindset
Do you know the advantages of a Gratitude Mindset? What might be holding you back? I am using some of the information in today’s episode mentioned in Peter Diamandis’s blogs and book “The Future is Faster Than You Think.”
One of the significant challenges we all have today is a pervasive sense of being “overwhelmed.” An increasing abundance of opportunities and a dizzying technological progress rate can often blind us to many of the simple joys in our lives. What was once a miracle we now take for granted.
In part, this is because technology allows us to do so much more, faster, cheaper, and easier. But it wasn’t always this way.
It was not uncommon during most of history to work 80+ hours a week just to survive. This amount of work was a necessity to get access to basic food, water, and shelter. All of our technological advancements are giving many of us a vacation from basic survival.
Being grateful means feeling and expressing thankfulness and appreciation for just how far we’ve come and for what we have. God’s providential grace has allowed us to live in a time of abundance never before experienced.
From a basic “standard of living” standpoint, each of us now has access to more fresh food, clean water, educational content, and medicines than kings and queens had just a century ago.
From an entrepreneurial standpoint, each of us has access to more communication capability, more knowledge, and more computational power than the heads of Fortune-100 companies had just a couple of decades ago.
From an impact and Purpose-Driven standpoint, each of us now has the privilege to work on some of the world’s biggest problems, a capability previously only addressable by heads of governments or the preeminent philanthropists.
Problem-solving itself has been democratized, and we’re all better off because of it. We should be grateful for every day of life.
A Gratitude Mindset involves regularly making the shift from expectation to appreciation and thankfulness.
A Gratitude Mindset means always recognizing that we’re living in the most extraordinary time ever in history. Today is better than yesterday, and tomorrow will be better still.
I believe that a Gratitude Mindset is essential for...

Creating a Biblical Worldview based on how the Old and New Testaments connect with God’s overall plan for humanity is essential. This book review will help us understand what the Bible teaches about the unseen world, and why it matters.
    Once and Future Kings
We’ve had a brief introduction to God’s heavenly council—his unseen family and task force. There’s a lot more to all that—we need to look, especially, at how major players like Jesus and Satan fit into the picture. But before we return to what goes on in the unseen world, we need to think in a fresh way about ourselves. God’s rule in the unseen spiritual world through his council is a template for his rule on earth—what theologians call the kingdom of God. All of that began in Genesis, in the garden of Eden.
Eden—God’s Home OfficeWhat’s the first thing you think of when you hear “garden of Eden”? Most people I’ve talked to think of Adam and Eve. Eden was their home. That’s where God put them (Genesis 2:15–25).
But Eden was also God’s home. Ezekiel refers to Eden as “the garden of God” (Ezekiel 28:13; 31:8–9). No surprise. What might be surprising is that, right after calling Eden “the garden of God,” Ezekiel calls it “the holy mountain of God” (v. 28:14). In many ancient religions, luxurious gardens and inaccessible mountains were considered the home of the gods. The Bible uses both descriptions for Eden. Eden was God’s home and, therefore, where he conducted business. It was his headquarters, or home office. And where God is, his council is with him.
God’s ImagersOne of the most important verses in the Bible tips us off that both God and his council were in Eden. In https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis+1%3A26andversion=NLT (Genesis 1:26), God says, “Let us make humankind in our image” (LEB, emphasis added). God announces his intention to a group. Who’s he talking to? His heavenly host—his council. He’s not talking to the other members of the Trinity, because God can’t know something they don’t! Here the group he’s addressing learns what God has decided to do.
The announcement is easy to understand. It would be like me saying to some friends, “Let’s get pizza!” Let’s do this! Clear enough. But there’s something else we don’t want to miss. God doesn’t include the group in bringing about his decision.
Unlike other divine council sessions we’ve seen, God’s council members don’t participate in this decision. When humankind is created in the next verse (Genesis 1:27), God is the only one creating humankind. The creation of humanity is something God handled himself. Going back to my pizza analogy, if I followed my announcement by driving everyone to the pizza place and insisted on paying, I would be the one doing all the work. That’s what we see going on here.
It makes sense that God would be the only one creating humans. The divine beings of his council don’t have that kind

Welcome to Day 1525 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomCheck Your Attitude – Wisdom UnpluggedWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. This is Day 1525 of our Trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from William James, and it is: It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else, will affect its successful outcome.
    Check Your Attitude
Everyone wants to know the secret of success in all areas of life, and it would be great if, indeed, there was a secret to being successful. Let me state an irrefutable truth; there is no secret to success. Yes, there are occasional fortunate circumstances that can expedite your success, but only if you are prepared to take advantage of those opportunities. One way to prepare for success is to check your attitude at the beginning of a difficult task. When you have a positive attitude, you train your mind to take advantage of the opportunities before you, regardless of their difficulties. Your attitude in life is probably the most critical single factor to ensure success. Yes, you need to prepare and gain the skills needed for success, but your success chances will certainly be limited if you do not have a positive attitude. So the recipe for success is this: check your attitude, be prepared, seek opportunities, then mix all of that with a healthy dose of hard work and perseverance.
    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Joshua%201%3A7andversion=NLT (Joshua 1:7)
Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.

Welcome to Day 1524 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomBible Study – By Design You Are Not Omniscient – Meditation MondayWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.
Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is https://wisdom-trek.com/captivate-podcast/day-1524/ (Day 1524) of our trek, and it is time for Meditation Monday. Taking time to relax, refocus, and reprioritize our lives is crucial in order to create a living legacy.
For you, it may just be time alone for quiet reflection. You may utilize structured meditation practices. In my life, meditation includes reading and reflecting on God’s Word and in prayer. It is a time to renew my mind, refocus on what is most important, and make sure that I am nurturing my soul, mind, and body.
Today let us meditate on…
Bible Study – By Design You Are Not Omniscient· Insight Thirty-Nine: By Design – Some Things in the Bible Are Clearer than Others
The Bible is an uneven book. If you think about the range of subjects it covers, some things get a lot more attention than others. For example, the Bible has a lot more to say about Moses and the exodus from Egypt than what Moses did in Midian for forty years after fleeing from Pharaoh (Acts 7:29-30). Most of what the New Testament tells us about Jesus covers the final three and a half years of his life. We know nothing about Jesus from the time he was twelve (Luke 2:41-52) to the beginning of his ministry when he was around thirty (Luke 3:23).
The Bible’s presentation of doctrine is the same way. We’re told a great deal about the nature of salvation, the meaning of what Jesus did on the cross, the relationship of faith and works, and the work of the Holy Spirit. We’re told next to nothing about where angels and demons come from or the origin of the soul.
The imbalance is deliberate. The biblical writers had agendas concerning what they wrote. Their books come out of specific circumstances and target specific events or questions. It was God who prompted them to write when they did and do so from their sociocultural contexts. God chose specific men and specific times and places to write for spiritual posterity. God’s choices are intelligent and deliberate. The very’ nature of the enterprise of inspiration means that the product— the Bible—will be selective.
Let’s think about what this means and doesn’t mean. I’m not suggesting that items to which the Bible devotes little space are unimportant. Everything the Bible comments on is essential. Every passage in Scripture has some communicative purpose. What I’m saying is that frequency and repetition indicate emphasis. If we are mindful of inspiration as the providential process it was, frequency telegraphs that certain truths are more central to the overall biblical message.
The situation is sort of like a website. Most of your attention is drawn to big pictures or prose text. That’s what holds your interest, by design. Tiny links are scattered here and there amid the prose, in the margins, across the top. They don’t communicate much by themselves. Following them can illumine the whole point of the website. Both are indispensable.

  • Day 1523 – Exponential Mindset – Proof of Growth – Ask Gramps
Welcome to Day 1523 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomExponential Mindset - Proof of Growth – Ask GrampsWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Today is Day 1523 of our Trek, and our focus on Fridays is the future technological and societal advances, so we call it Futuristic Fridays.
This week’s question is, Hey Gramps, last week you explained what a futuristic exponential mindset is, but do you have evidence to support why we should craft a futuristic exponential mindset?
Exponential Mindset – Proof of GrowthLast week we explained how to craft a Futuristic Abundance Mindset. This week we will explore the exponential growth that is now evident. I am using some of the information mentioned in Peter Diamandis’s blogs and book “The Future is Faster Than You Think.”
Exponential growth is happening all around us, but it can be hard to see.
Given our linear thinking minds’ restrictions, it’s difficult for us to grasp how something that starts deceptively small can…
Double 10 times, resulting in 1,000x growth, and
Double 30 times and get you to nearly a 1,000,000,000x
Part of overcoming this embedded bias is actively developing an Exponential Mindset, as we discussed in last week’s episode. Today, I’m going to share and explore the overwhelming “proof of exponentials.” Proof ranging from accelerating computing power and internet access, to the digitization of retail and the rapidly falling costs of sequencing the human genome. If you would like to view the charts that correspond to this data, please check the Wisdom Journal for today on Wisdom-Trek.com. Those charts are proof that offers all of us “data-driven optimism.”
    Let’s dive in…
Moore’s Law Continues...Almost all of our exponential tech trends discussed in this episode are being built on top of ever-increasing computational power. For the past ~70+ years, Moore’s Law, which predicts that computing power will double every two years, computing power’s exponential growth has continued non-stop. The chart in today’s Wisdom Journal, plotted on a log-scale, demonstrates this trend.
Computers are also becoming much more efficient. Processing efficiency is measured as the watts’ number is needed per million instructions per second (watts per MIPS).
As you can see in the next chart in today’s Wisdom Journal, processing efficiency has increased by a factor of 100,000 since 1990.
With continued advances in quantum computing, we’ll see an explosion of information-processing capability.
By 2023, IBM expects to reach 1,121 qubits with their processor codenamed Condor. As you can see in the next chart in today’s Wisdom Journal, this would be a 17-fold increase from today. IBM sees 2023 as the inflection point for the commercialization of quantum technology.
    One critical effect of...
