Wisdom-Trek / Creating a LegacyWelcome to Day 1312 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Neighbor's Concern – Humor Unplugged
Wisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.
Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts.
This is https://wisdom-trek.com/captivate-podcast/day-1312/ (Day 1312) of our trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. Our Thursday podcast will provide a short and clean funny story to help you lighten up and live a rich and satisfying life - something to cheer you and provide a bit a levity in your life.
We are told in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+15:30andversion=NLT (Proverbs 15:30,) "A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health." We are also encouraged in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+17:22andversion=NLT (Proverbs 17:22,) "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength." Consider this your vitamin supplement of cheer for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s funny, which is titled...
    A Neighbor’s Concern
Sue and John, who lived next door to their elderly neighbor, Mrs. Goldbaum, always tried to keep an eye out for her to make sure she was okay. After not seeing Mrs. Goldbaum for three days, Sue started to be concerned for her. Knowing that Mrs. Goldbaum was somewhat hard of hearing and didn’t always answer her phone, Sue wasn’t sure how best to check up on her.
After fretting for several hours more, she couldn’t stand it any longer. Sue realized that Mrs. Goldbaum was quite independent, and she didn’t think she needed anyone to check in on her, so Sue devised a plan. Mrs. Goldbaum seemed to really like their six-year-old son, little Johnny, so she decided to send him over to check on her.
Sue asked: “Johnny, would you go next door and see how old Mrs. Goldbaum is?”
Johnny said, “Sure, I would love to; she always gives me candy when I go over.”
About 30 minutes later, Johnny returned, enjoying the candy bar he was given.
Sue was really anxious to find out, so she met Johnny at the door. “Well, is Mrs. Goldbaum all right?”
Johnny said, “Sure, she's fine, except that she's mad at you.”
Sue asked, “Mad at me? Whatever for?”
Johnny said nonchalantly, “She said its none of your business how old she is.”
I hope that brought a smile to your face today. If it did, pass your smile on to someone else; we all could use a good smile. Our Thursday thought is “And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.”

  • Day 1311 – Mastering the Bible – Theophany and Archaeology – Worldview Wednesday
Wisdom-Trek / Creating a LegacyWelcome to Day 1311 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.I am Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomMastering the Bible – Theophany and Archaeology – Worldview Wednesday
Wisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek! Where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1311 of our Trek, and it is Worldview Wednesday. Creating a Biblical Worldview is important to have a proper perspective on today’s current events. To establish a Biblical Worldview, it is required that you also have a proper understanding of God and His Word. Our focus for the next several months on Worldview Wednesday is Mastering the Bible, through a series of brief insights. These insights are extracted from a book of the same title from one of today’s most prominent Hebrew Scholars, Dr. Micheal S. Heiser. This book is a collection of insights designed to help you understand the Bible better. When we let the Bible be what it is, we can understand it as the original readers did, and as its writers intended. Each week we will explore two insights.
Mastering The Bible – Theophany, and ArchaeologyInsight Thirty-Three: God Was Present in Human Form in the Old TestamentThe time of Jesus wasn’t the first time in the Bible that God appeared on earth as a man. There are several places in the Old Testament where God comes in human form —even to the point of embodiment. In fact, these appearances became reference points for New Testament writers to talk about Jesus.
For example, in several passages, the “word of the Lord” appears to prophetic figures like Abraham (Genesis 15:1, 4), Samuel (1 Samuel 3:1, 7, 21), and Jeremiah (Jeremiah. 1:2, 4, 11). In these instances, the “word of the Lord” was visible. In other words, the reference is not just to a voice inside the head. In Jeremiah's case, the “word of the Lord”—identified as God himself in the passage—reaches out his hand and touches the prophet as we read in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jeremiah+1%3A9andversion=NLT (Jeremiah 1:9) Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said, Look, I have put my words in your mouth!
These passages and others like them are where the apostle John gets his idea that Jesus was “the word” who was God—the word made flesh. Let me read https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+1%3A1-3%2C+14andversion=NLT (John 1:1-3, 14)
In the beginning the Word already existed.
    The Word was with God,
    and the Word was God.
He existed in the beginning with God.
    God created everything through him,
and nothing was created except through him.
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
Further evidence for God in human form in the Old Testament is the Angel of the Lord. In Exodus 23:20-21, God tells Moses:
See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you. Pay close attention to him, and obey his instructions. Do not rebel against him, for he is my representative, and he will not forgive your rebellion. The word translated “angel” in the Old Testament means “messenger,” and so the “angel of the Lord” is a divine being sent to do a particular task. The key thing to notice in Exodus 23 is that this particular angel has the representation of God in him. Other passages make it clear that this is another way to refer to God himself. For example, the angel with God's name in him was assigned by God to lead the Israelites to the promised land. Judges 2:1-3 tells us that the angel...

Wisdom-Trek / Creating a LegacyWelcome to Day 1310 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomGratitude Creates Blessings – Wisdom Unplugged
This is Day 1310 of our Trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Sir John Templeton, and it is: An attitude of gratitude creates blessings.
    Gratitude Creates Blessings
Gratitude starts in our minds. It is expressed through our attitude towards all that we have, that is all of the blessings in our lives. As we contemplate all that we have to be thankful for, it not only changes the way we think, it changes our attitude towards all of life. This changes how we look at the most mundane circumstances, and even what might be thought of as negative circumstances and turns them into blessings as we see how each situation of life is purifying us into whom God intends for us to become.
I think of my own family. I was one of ten children where we grew up on an apple orchard and would be considered poor by any standard in the western world. What we lacked in money or possessions we made up in love, hard work, and an appreciation for all that God provided for us. There were many a meal where we would have to pass the serving dish back around to give up a portion of what we had served ourselves, so that all twelve of us had something to eat. One thing that we had an abundance of throughout our entire life is the love of our parents, and love for each other. No, we didn’t always get along, and yes, there was plenty of conflict between siblings and our parents, but we never doubted our love for each other.
These childhood experiences shaped who I am today. Although, as an adult with children and grandchildren, my family would be considered fairly well off now, I am so thankful each day for everything God’s grace has provided. I try not to take anything for granted, or to be dissatisfied with even the smallest of blessings. Even the difficult times financially, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually I praise God for His goodness and allowing me to serve Him and be a tool in the building of His kingdom.
Thinking about the roots of my upbringing, and the heritage that I have experienced in my life, in future Tuesday wisdom episodes, I will share more of the blessing that comes from an attitude of gratitude.
    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians+2:7andversion=NLT (Colossians 2:7)
Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

  • Day 1309 – Faithful Love – Meditation Monday
Wisdom-Trek / Creating a LegacyWelcome to Day 1309 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomFaithful Love – Meditation Monday
This is Day 1309 of our Trek, and it is time for Meditation Monday. Taking time to relax, refocus, and reprioritize our lives is crucial in order to create a living legacy. For you, it may just be time alone for quiet reflection. You may utilize structured meditation practices. In my life, meditation includes reading and reflecting on God’s Word and in prayer. It is a time to renew my mind, refocus on what is most important, and making sure that I am nurturing my soul, mind, and body. As you come along with me on our trek each Meditation Monday, it is my hope and prayer that you, too, will experience a time for reflection and renewing of your mind.
Love is often misunderstood today. True love has embedded within it faithfulness. So today, let us consider:
Faithful LoveGod loves us with a faithful love that is not based on our daily decisions and choices that we make. His love for us never waivers or ends. This is described by the prophet Jeremiah in one of the Biblical books that he authored. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Lamentations+3%3A22%E2%80%9323andversion=NLT (Lamentations 3:22-23)
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
    His mercies never cease.
    Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
Jeremiah is referred to as the weeping profit. His life was full of sorrow and difficulty. One analogy I read said that Jeremiah was as gloomy as a giraffe with a sore throat. When Jeremiah was prophesying, Jerusalem was under siege, his nation under duress. His world collapsed like a sandcastle in a typhoon. He was kept in a muddy well at times, and they would throw down a piece of bread to him each day. He faulted God for his horrible emotional distress. He also blamed God for his physical ailments. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Lamentations+3%3A4andversion=NLT (Lamentations 3:4) He has made my skin and flesh grow old. He has broken my bones.Jeremiah’s body ached. His heart was sick. His faith was small and getting even smaller... but then it dawned on him that he was sinking into despair quickly, so he shifted his gaze as is written in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Lamentations+3%3A21-24andversion=NLT (Lamentations 3:21-24)
Yet I still dare to hope
    when I remember this:
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
    His mercies never cease.
    Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
    I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!”We need to follow the same pattern as Jeremiah. When we are down, depressed, in pain, and agony, we need to alter our thoughts. We need to shift our attention. Just like Jeremiah, we need to turn our eyes away from this stormy world and look into the wonders of God. We can easily do this by reading or memorizing the promises that I read in Lamentations 3:22-24. To help you remember them, you can list them on the five fingers of your hand.
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
    His mercies never cease.
    Great is his faithfulness.
His mercies begin afresh each morning.
The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!
Jeremiah’s storms didn’t cease, but his discouragement did. We need to have that same attitude. Lamenting is the purifier of our souls.
That is a wrap for today’s meditation, next week, we will continue our trek on Meditation Monday as we take

  • Day 1308 – Forgiveness Is Freedom – Ask Gramps
Wisdom-Trek / Creating a LegacyWelcome to Day 1308 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomForgiveness is Freedom – Ask Gramps
This is Day 1308 of our Trek and time for our Philosophy Friday series. Each Friday, we will ponder some of the basic truths and mysteries of life, and how they can impact us in creating our living legacy. As we continue on this trek called life, sometimes we have questions about life, so our Friday trek is a time where we can ‘Ask Gramps.’ Gramps will answer questions that you would like to ask your dad or granddad, but for whatever reason, this is not possible. No matter how old we are, I know that all of us would like the opportunity to ask dad or gramps questions about life in many areas.
We may mix it up a bit on our Friday episodes, but will strive to keep them down to earth and enjoyable. If you have any questions that you would like to ask Gramps, please email them to [email protected]
So the question for this week is:
“Hey Gramps, I have been hurt deeply by those who I love, and who are supposed to love me. I wish I could say it’s forgiven and forgotten — but it isn’t. As much as I’ve tried — all I feel is the anger and the bitterness. What wise tips can you give me to help me to let go and be free of the anger and bitterness I have.
Forgiveness is FreedomI am very sorry that you are struggling with forgiveness and are angry and bitter. You have to realize though, that without forgiveness, bitterness is all that’s left!
Since you didn’t specify, I don’t know what is causing your pain, maybe it’s a very old wound. A parent abused you. A mate betrayed you, and over the years, all you have left is anger and bitterness.
Perhaps the wound is fresh. The friend who owes you money just drove by in a new car. The boss who hired you with promises of promotions has forgotten how to pronounce your name. And you’re hurt!
There’s a dual fire burning in your heart. It’s the fire of anger and bitterness. Although it can be very difficult, as with nearly every situation we face in this life, you do have a choice. Please understand that you are left with a decision. This decision is not based on the offending person asking you for forgiveness. Your decision is not dependent on whether the offending person is sorry for the hurt that they have caused in your life. The choice is yours. Do you forgive anyway and work on the healing of your soul, or do you get even and plan retribution? Are you going to allow your hurts to heal, or do you let your hurt turn into hate?
Forgiveness is not foolishness. Forgiveness, at its core, is choosing to see your offender with different eyes. How can recipients of God’s grace and forgiveness do anything less? https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians+3%3A13andversion=NLT (Colossians 3:13) tells us, Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Dare you ask God for grace when we refuse to give it? https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+6%3A14-15andversion=NLT (Matthew 6:14-15) If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
This is a huge issue in Scripture because it is a huge issue to God! Jesus was tough on sinners who refused to forgive other sinners. Let me share an analogy of the damaging effects of unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and...

What Did You Say?Mr. Smith, an elderly gentleman, had serious hearing problems for a number of years. His family begged him to go see an audiologist, but he continued to refuse to go, thinking that his hearing wasn’t that bad. Finally, he decided maybe it was time, but he was too embarrassed to admit it to his family, so he made an appointment himself. On his appointment date, He went to Dr. Jones, the best hearing specialist in town. Dr, Jones was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed Mr. Smith to hear 100%.
About a month later, Mr. Smith went back to see Dr. Jones for a follow-up visit to have his new hearing aids checked and adjusted if needed. Dr. Jones checked him out and proudly proclaimed, “Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again.”
With a bit of a smile on his face, Mr. Smith confessed, “Oh, I haven't told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I've changed my will three times!”I hope that brought a smile to your face today. If it did pass your smile onto some else, we all could use a good smile. Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is https://wisdom-trek.com/captivate-podcast/day-1306/ (Day 1306) of our trek, and it is Worldview Wednesday. Creating a Biblical worldview is important to have a proper perspective on today’s current events.
To establish a Biblical worldview, you must also have a proper understanding of God and His Word. When we let the Bible be what it is, we can understand it as the original readers did and as its writers intended. Each week we will explore two insights.
Mastering The Bible – One Long Sermon and Other GodsInsight Thirty-One: Deuteronomy Is One Long Sermon by Moses to the Israelites
Like Leviticus and Numbers, Deuteronomy can be confusing since it seems like nothing is happening in Israel’s journey. It often seems like just a lot of talking. That’s because that’s what it is. Deuteronomy presents its content as a lengthy speech or sermon by Moses just before the Israelites try for the second time to enter the Promised Land. Deuteronomy, therefore, begins with the end of the forty-year wandering in the desert—a punishment imposed by God for their failure to enter the land in faith for fear of the giant Anakim in Numbers 13.
It’s because of this unfortunate history that the sermon of Moses starts out by rehearsing Israel’s history, warts and all, from its miraculous beginning with Abraham and Sarah to its miserable failure at Kadesh-Barnea (Deuteronomy 1). Once Israel gets that painful reminder, Deuteronomy repeats the laws given at Sinai, but with some changes that reflect life in the land (Deuteronomy 5-26). This is why this book is referred to in English Bibles as “Deuteronomy”—a title made up of two words that mean “second law'’ (deuteros + nomos). The effect of all this is that the words of Moses are taking the people spiritually and emotionally back to Sinai so they can start over again.
But Deuteronomy is far more than a repetition of a long list of laws. Part of Moses’ sermon is designed to elicit a public response from the people that this time —and for good—they will obey God in faith. Accordingly, chapters 27-30 are framed as a public covenant commitment ceremony to solidify that decision. It’s serious content, too, since two whole chapters (28-30) comprise a long list of curses that will happen to the people if they forsake the Lord as their God. Specifically, the promise of the land itself is tied to obedience to God found in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+28%3A15-21andversion=NLT (Deuteronomy 28:15-21) and https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+28%3A36-37andversion=NLT (36-37.)
“But if you refuse to listen to the Lord your God and do not obey all the commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come and overwhelm you:
    Your towns and your fields
    will be cursed.
    Your fruit baskets and breadboards
    will be cursed.
    Your children and your crops

Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1305 of our Trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Michael Josephson, and it is: A person of character feels and expresses gratitude freely and frequently.
Express GratitudeA person who is truly grateful for all that they have in life not only feels grateful, but also expresses gratitude, first of all, to God, and then to others who have positively impacted their lives. Another sign of a person who is truly grateful is that they frequently give thanks. Sure, it is easy to be thankful when all is going well, but what about the times of anxiety, hardship, illness, and loss? I know, it is difficult when you are overwhelmed, tired, or not feeling well to continually give thanks. When you are struggling, it is important to establish or continue habits that will help you to overcome these issues. You must invest in yourself. Get adequate sleep, exercise on a regular basis, eat nutritious, wholesome foods, read encouraging and beneficial information, minimize the negative influence in your life, and, most of all, feed your mind with what is good and Godly. Here are a couple of passages that will help you to get started on shifting your mindset if you find it difficult to be grateful for everything.
    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+5:20andversion=NLT (Ephesians 5:20)

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ, Jesus.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

  • Day 1304 – Resistance Is Futile – Meditation Monday
Wisdom-Trek / Creating a LegacyWelcome to Day 1304 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomResistance is Futile – Meditation Monday
This is Day 1304 of our Trek, and it is time for Meditation Monday.
Life is full of changes, but many of us resist change in our lives, but should we? So today let us consider:
Resistance Is FutileChange is always coming, ready, or not. We must learn to embrace it. We must learn to accept it. Don't resist it. Change is not only a part of life; change is a necessary part of God's strategy. To use us to build His kingdom and change the world, God alters our assignments. Gideon: from farmer to general; Ester: from a young lady in exile to a queen; Mary: from peasant girl to the mother of Christ; Paul: from local rabbi to world evangelist. God transitioned Joseph from a baby brother to an Egyptian prince. He changed David from a shepherd to a king. God changed Jacob from a master of deceit to the father of the 12 tribes of Israel. Peter wanted to fish the Sea of Galilee. God called him to lead the first church. Although the path to change was very difficult for each of these individuals, and it is many times with us, God makes reassignments.
But, someone might ask, what about the tragic changes God permits? Some seasons make no sense…do such moments serve a purpose? They do if we see them from an eternal perspective. What makes no sense in this life will make perfect sense in the next. I have proof: you in the womb. I know you don't remember this prenatal season, neither do I, so let me remind you what happened during it. Every gestation day equipped you for your earthly life. Your bones solidified, your eyes developed, the umbilical cord transported nutrients into your growing frame…for what reason? So you might remain enwombed? Quite the contrary. Womb time equipped you for earth time, suited you up for your postpartum existence.
Some prenatal features went unused before birth. You grew a nose but didn't breathe. Eyes developed, but could you see? Your tongue, toenails, and a crop of hair served no function in your mother's belly. But aren't you glad you have them now?Certain chapters in this life seem so unnecessary, like nostrils on the preborn. Suffering. Loneliness. Disease. Holocausts. Martyrdom. Monsoons. If we assume this world exists just for pre-grave happiness, these atrocities disqualify it from doing so. But what if this earth is the womb? Might these challenges, severe as they may be, serve to prepare us, equip us for the world to come? Let us not resist God changing us from who we are today who He desires us to be. Resistance is Futile, let God have His way in your life. As the Apostle Paul wrote, in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+4%3A17+andversion=NLT (2 Corinthians 4:17, ) For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last

Wisdom-Trek / Creating a LegacyWelcome to Day 1303 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomNew Wine and Old Skins – Ask Gramps
This is https://wisdom-trek.com/captivate-podcast/day-1303/ (Day 1303) of our trek, and it is time for our Philosophy Friday series. Each Friday, we ponder some of the basic truths and mysteries of life and how they can impact us in creating our living legacy.
As we continue on this trek called life, sometimes we have questions about life, so our Friday trek is a time when we can “Ask Gramps.” Gramps will answer questions that you would like to ask your dad or granddad, but for whatever reason, you are unable to. No matter how old we are, I know that all of us would like the opportunity to ask Dad or Gramps questions about life in many areas.
We may mix it up a bit on our Friday episodes, but we will strive to keep them down to earth and enjoyable. If you have any questions that you would like to ask Gramps, please email them to [email protected]
So the question for this week is…
“Hey Gramps, as I observe others growing older, including myself, there seems to be a resistance to change for many people, and they seem to give up on actively impacting the lives of others. As a Christ-Follower, is there a time in our lives where we have done enough and just sit back?”
    New Wine and Old Skins
There has never been a better time to be alive, regardless of your age. Life expectancy and quality of life for those who were once considered elderly are greater today than in most of all history. There is very little reason to retire in the sense that we have thought about it for several generations. While you may not continue to work or minister in the same places and in the same manner as you once did, there is no excuse to stop. The old sayings of yesteryear, such as “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” or “He’s old and stuck in his ways,” or “She’s never going to change” no longer need to apply. There is so much new information to learn and put into practice, and there is a little impediment that is age-related.
There is an ingrained, all-too-often-proved-true, prejudice that when we get older, we can't, or won't, change any more. This is despite some great examples in the Bible — like Abraham, Sarah, Moses, and Caleb and that's just the first six books — and some great passages of Scripture that challenge us to keep on changing to become more like Jesus. Listen to https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+4%3A16andversion=NLT (2 Corinthians 4:16,) "That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day."
God gives us freedom through the Spirit to kingdom building for Him regardless of age. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+3%3A17-18andversion=NLT (2 Corinthians 3:17-18) says, "For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image."
Two great examples in the New Testament who are old in years, but fresh and new in faith are Anna and Simeon, who greeted the baby Jesus at the Temple in Jerusalem. This story can be found in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+2%3A22-38andversion=NLT (Luke 2:22-38). I wonder how many asked them, “Why can't you just act your age?” or “When are you going to be more...
