If you knew that there was a great opportunity ahead, within a field/industry that you're passionate about, would you be willing to work for someone, for free? The answer to this question should tell you where your true motivation and heart lies. *Most* individuals are money driven. They'd rather get paid to do something they hate, than to work for free doing something they love. This thinking is backwards, and is a reason why so many individuals get stuck in a cycle of jobs and careers that they find no fulfillment in. Instead, my encouragement for those listening is to be willing to work for free. Being able to provide value to someone or some company for free within an area that you see as a long term passion point for you will hold great rewards over the course of the long run. By making yourself and your talents accessible free of charge, you can open up doors and opportunities that would've remained closed if your sole mindset was chasing after the dollar.
