With CPR in 2020, There’s Nothing Like Good Perfusion

Dr. Joe Holley comes on the show this week to share some insights into the recently released 2020 Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines. He focuses on recent research in cadavers and animal models that show a need for high quality BLS CPR measures in sudden cardiac arrest.

Early manual CPR, heads-up CPR, early use of mechanical CPR, and the use of adjuncts like impedance threshold devices in airway management all become important. The goal is to approach normal perfusion of the brain while resuscitation efforts proceed.

Meteorologists Becky DePodwin and Kyle Nelson also came on the show to discuss recent disaster weather events and the continued activity in the Tropics. Also on the show were co-hosts Sam Bradley, and Jamie Davis.
