In this episode, I'm joined by fellow Psychosynthesis practitioner and colleague Amy Spalding-Fecher. Amy is a Psychosynthesis trainer and coach, Director of Synthesis Northeast in the US, and co-author of the book Willing to Love.
The topic of will is close to my heart. It plays a central role in all of our lives—whether we're in touch with it or not—and it's a core theme in Psychosynthesis.
Together, we explore the nature of the will: what it is, how we relate to it, and how we can access its power in service of a more authentic, integrated life.
Roberto Assagioli, the founder of Psychosynthesis, saw the will as a central and dynamic part of the human psyche—not as force or control, but as an intelligent, loving, and purposeful energy. He believed the will was key to integrating the personality and realizing the Higher Self.
According to Assagioli, the will has several levels—from impulsive will to higher, transpersonal will—and it serves as a bridge between the Self and action. When we’re aligned with our authentic Self, the will becomes a tool for living in accordance with our deepest values and purpose.
In short: the will is the soul’s instrument for expressing its true calling in the world.
