Hornblower-esque
It seemed like the kind of book I would enjoy, and it has been. A twelve year-old boy David is the narrator. He and his father are transported in time and space to England during the Napoleanic wars. They are pressed into service on an English naval war ship. I have greatly enjoyed reading the Horatio Hornblower books and the Jack Aubrey books about that time period. The author displays a similar understanding of the ships and naval warfare of that time, while at the same time creating a plot that held my attention. I look forward to more of his work!

Get ready for an adventure
I didn't know what to expect when I picked this book up. Well... I didn't set it down for two days. It is an engrossing story that will grip you from beginning to end. I cannot wait for the sequel.
OK read
OK read but meant for kids I think actually young adult boys due to some gory parts with blood and body parts
