  • Marlborough Minute - Lily Brady

Local author Lily Brady joins host Ryan Malyar on this episode of Marlborough Minute to talk about her debut novel, "Of Kin and Curse." Born and raised in Marlborough, Lily channeled her creativity into a fantasy novel inspired in part by the loss of her grandmother.Ryan and Lily dig into the world of "Of Kin and Curse", a kingdom where magic is banned, a princess who's been sheltered from the world, and a villain, who Lily says "wrote himself." They talk about grief, found family, coming-of-age themes, the biases people inherit from misinformation, and how fiction can help young readers feel seen. Lily also shares her writing process (lots of notebooks!), her character-specific Spotify playlists, and what it was like getting help from her mom (a romance novelist) and dad (an 8th grade English teacher) as her at-home editors. She even reads a passage from the opening chapter."Of Kin and Curse" by Lily Brady is available now on Amazon in paperback and on Kindle Unlimited. A sequel is already in the works.
