Sometimes the way we make sense of our lives is by telling stories about them. Sometimes we tell the story one way, sometimes another; sometimes we leave some things in; other times we leave those details out. It depends on the question we're trying to answer, maybe, or the self we're trying to show to the world. In that same way, All Grown Up offers us a series of linked fiction about single, 40-year-old, once-artist, current-Brooklynite, daughter/sister/aunt/friend Andrea, trying, like all of us, to make sense of her place in the world. The vignettes overlap, contradict, and enhance, adding up to a portrait of a life that is difficult, complicated, vibrant, and real.
