Entry level position. Bachelor’s degree required. 1 year experience preferred but not required. Preferred candidate will have strong communications, organization, and leadership skills. Must be able to work independently and on a team.
This is the standard description for jobs that you’ll seeing during your post-graduation job search. Confusing huh? They want someone that doesn’t have experience but prefer they do. To have one year experience means that you’d have to be working a year before applying, but you just graduated and didn’t have the opportunity for full-time work. It’s the most frustrating part of job searching: you need experience to get more experience. How do you beat the system? The answer: Internships. Internships are the key to getting a head start on a promising career. They help your application reach the top of the pile or better yet; they help the jobs come to you.
