What exactly is the Equal Rights Amendment, and why is it important? Well, this episode is going to answer that question! It may come as a shock that the United States does not yet include equal protection for women in its constitution. Though the US has long been purported to be one of the leaders in gender equality, it is actually one of only 28 countries in the world without women included it its constitution, and ranks 51 in gender parity after it's neighbors Canada and Mexico. The ERA is a constitutional amendment that would explicitly bar the government from any form of discrimination on the basis of sex. The Woman Beings sit down with repeat guest Meghan Tschanz (host of the faith and feminism podcast, author of Women Rising) and Allyson McKinney-Timm, a human rights lawyer, advocate, and founder of Justice Revival.
