  • Episode 31 | Let's Talk About: Deconstructing White Evangelical Christianity w/ Meghan Tschanz

In this episode, the Woman Beings sit down with Meghan Tschanz, creator and host of the Faith and Feminism podcast and author of "Women Rising," her soon-to-be-released book! Meghan shares her story of serving on the missions field and how it led her to discover the inherent misogyny and patriarchal systems that are oppressing women throughout the world... and how the church plays a big role. Female genital mutilation, human trafficking, sexual assault, all are symptoms of the greater patriarchal systems that are designed to keep men in power and exhort women to be submissive, silent, and unseen. She shares her journey of deconstructing her white evangelical upbringing and white saviorism, learning to understand the concept of the people's church and the ruler's church, and how so much of the sexual assault and violence against women in our society today can be tied back to purity culture. This episode is chock full of wisdom - be sure to give it a listen!

  • Episode 30 | Reacting to the Most Misogynistic Sermon Ever

The Woman Beings sit down to watch and react to a sermon by baptist preacher Stewart Allen Clark. Clark's message recently received a lot of heat for its misogynist, sexist, and non-biblical underpinnings that are sadly not so unusual in the evangelical church. He stresses the importance for a man to have "a beautiful woman on his arm," and insinuates a woman's beauty and weight control are vital to healthy and happy marriage. This week's episode is a little different (prepare to hear a lot of unfiltered frustration), but it's worth a listen as it pinpoints so many of the church's teachings about marriage that have saturated everyday Christian culture.

Please note: Use this podcast episode as an opportunity to call out and extract false teachings and overt misogyny within the church. This is by no means an excuse to demean, dehumanize, or devalue Stewart Allen Clark or any other men who share his views. It is understood that Mr. Clark has stepped down from pastoring and is seeking therapy. The Woman Being Podcast only wishes him the best as he begins the process of deconstructing these harmful narratives and continuing on a path toward healing.
