Stand and Watch

What do you do when you’re caught between what’s behind you and what’s ahead of you—and there seems to be no way out?

In Exodus 14, the Israelites stood at the edge of the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army closing in behind them. Fear told them they were trapped, but God was about to reveal His power in a way they could never have orchestrated themselves.

In this episode of Woman in the Word, we’re reminded that sometimes faith doesn’t look like moving forward—it looks like standing still and watching God work. When circumstances feel impossible and fear is louder than faith, God calls us to trust Him, remain steadfast, and remember that He is fighting for us.

What does it mean to truly see?

In this episode of Woman in the Word, we turn our hearts to two beautiful passages of Scripture—John 1 and Psalm 36—and explore the profound biblical theme of light. John introduces us to Jesus as the eternal Word, the One who was with God and was God, and the One who came into the world as the true Light. “The light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

Psalm 36 gives us another glimpse of this light, declaring, “For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.” These words remind us that God is not only the source of life—He is the source of true sight. Apart from Him, we can easily stumble in the darkness of our own understanding, emotions, desires, and circumstances. But when we come into His light, He begins to reveal what is true.

In this episode, we consider what it looks like to allow the light of Christ to shine into every part of our lives. His light exposes, but it also heals. It reveals what we cannot see on our own, but it never reveals it without the invitation of grace. His light brings clarity where there has been confusion, hope where there has been despair, and truth where we have believed a lie.

John 1 reminds us that the Light has come—and that the Light is Jesus. Psalm 36 reminds us that it is only in His light that we can truly see light. Together, these passages invite us to stop looking for clarity everywhere else and instead turn our eyes toward the One who is Light itself.

As women walking through ordinary days filled with decisions, relationships, responsibilities, disappointments, and unknowns, we need more than our own perspective. We need the light of God's Word. We need the presence of Christ. We need the Holy Spirit to illuminate what is true and lead us in the way of life.

We've all heard the phrase, "Because I said so." It's often the final word that calls for trust and obedience. But when God says something, His Word carries absolute authority because it flows from His perfect character, unfailing faithfulness, and eternal truth.

His Way, Not Mine

The Great Exchange

What happened at the cross was more than an act of sacrifice—it was the greatest exchange in history.

Storm warnings are given for a reason. They invite us to prepare, change course, or seek shelter before the winds begin to rage. But what happens when we ignore the warning?

In Acts 27, Paul urges the crew not to continue their voyage, warning that the journey will end in disaster. Confident in their own judgment, they press on anyway—only to find themselves caught in a storm far beyond their control. Their story is a sobering reminder of what can happen when we dismiss wise counsel and fail to heed God's warnings.

Yet even in the middle of the consequences, God's mercy is on display. Though the ship is lost, every life is spared just as God promised. His grace meets His people in the storm, reminding us that while our choices have consequences, His faithfulness never wavers.
