Today on the Womb School Podcast, we have the privilege to hear from 2 deeply devoted birth workers who are actively working on making birth work more inclusive for the LGBTQ+ community.
Beth Hardy (she/her), is a birth doula, childbirth educator, board certified music therapist, parent and founder of Heart Tone’s Birth Services. Beth is fiercely passionate about helping birthing people know their options, tap into their strength, and rock their birth. In her work, she saw a need for advocacy for underserved communities in the birth space. Which is why she is always looking to learn more about how she can be the best doula for her clients. Her training includes: Hypnobirthing, labor massage, Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth, providing culturally sensitive care to LGBTQ+ clients, Birthing at Every Size, and systemic racism & implicit bias in perinatal health.
Kalli Chason (she/they), is a queer student midwife, doula, childbirth educator, hypnobabies instructor, placenta encapsulator, parent and the owner of Breath Birth Care. Kalli's mantra in their work is “Any kind of birth and every kind of parent” and you see them embody this as they fiercely protect & serve birthing folks and theri family as they go through one of life’s biggest transitions into parenthood. Kalli is devoted to creating change and helping make birth more affirming, safe, and affordable, especially with LGBTQ+ birthing folk. In this episode we will talk about how to create safe spaces for our queer community & how systemic change requires authentic action not performative statements.
