This is a short story from a few years back when my life was in great transition. My husband had been diagnosed with colon cancer and I was mama to a 9 year old and a 1 year old……I pray these words inspire you to tend to your feelings well.
Our feelings have valuable information for us.
Rough day…..feeling the weight of disconnection and the need for my village and my desire to feel seen and heard and felt......was going down the rabbit hole of fear and doubt and stuck-ness
I took out the stroller, put my toddler in and as I walked, the tears streamed down my face for the first part of the walk.
I walked for almost an hour.
I listened to myself…
I heard “I need you and you are not there” over and over and let the hot, healing tears flow.……
I received my own feelings, I received my own words, felt my heart, I allowed it all, the deep old pain that was ready to come out and then allow my heart to be purified and renewed.……
Thankful for my tools. Thankful for a wise woman I am blessed to have in my life (love you Kathy) once told me “use your tools.”
There is NOTHING like true sisterhood. To be seen, heard, held, nurtured, deeply felt IS MEDICINE.
May these tools bless you: walking, visits with dear friends, prayers, breathing, pausing, gardening, slowing down, a warm cuppa tea.
Starting a local women’s circle has been such a blessing : ). You too can do this, invite those women who have a vision of gathering once or twice a month and are committed to building intimate community. It’s simple. Gather, share your heart, listen, be filled with love.
Sending blessings,
Rachel
