The focus of the transitional housing program for Phoenix Pass, Inc. is to empower Program Partners, referred to hereinafter as Program Partners, with supportive services and the resources to recover and rebuild a productive, stable lifestyle for themselves and for their families. Phoenix Pass, Inc. will operate under the vision that Program Partners who successfully complete the program will remain in the Conyers-Rockdale County community to live, work, and contribute the education, life skills, and job skills acquired during their tenure in the program back to the community. It is expected that Program Partners will transition from the program into the community as productive and self-sufficient citizens. 1 out of every 6 American adult women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime (14.8% completed rape; 2.8% attempted rape).1About 3% of American adult men — or 1 in 33 — have experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime.115% of sexual assault and rape victims are under age 12.273% of sexual assaults were perpetrated by a non-stranger. 21 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before their 18th birthday.93% of juvenile sexual assault victims know their attacker.3

34.2% of attackers were family members.58.7% were acquaintances.Only 7% of the perpetrators were strangers to the victim.Nearly 50% of all victims of forcible sodomy, sexual assault with an object, and forcible fondling are children under 12.

After successfully launching her cosmetics line, Lipsynk Cosmetics, last year, Denise Wiggins decided to write an uplifting new book in stores June 28th. Titled My Struggles God Glory chronicles her life and struggles with faith, and pregnancy. At age 19, Denise went on to become a single mother of three. At times, Denise has worked two to three jobs that led her to become a CEO of her own cosmetics line, "Lipsynk Cosmetics."  Ms. Wiggins story will resonate with anyone struggling to find their way. The number of American troops killed in Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2012 was 6,488. The number of American women who were murdered by current or ex male partners during that time was 11,766. That's nearly double the amount of casualties lost during war.

Women are much more likely to be victims of intimate partner violence with 85 percent of domestic abuse victims being women and 15 percent men. Too many women have been held captive by domestic violence -- whether through physical abuse, financial abuse, emotional abuse or a combination of all three. 

I will continue to use my platform to give anyone a voice to speak out and to help others.
