We know as women that we are the first ones to speak up for those who are voiceless. We advocate for our children, our partners, our colleagues and our friends. But what about ourselves? Do you often find yourself remaining quiet when you know your worth isn't being recognized? Or when someone is trying to cross one of your boundaries?

Self-advocacy is an important skill. When you advocate on your own behalf, you are able to communicate your thoughts and feelings. You are able to ask for what you need and want. You know your rights and you speak up when required.

In this virtual, we are joined by three powerful women who know what self-advocacy is and why it's important:

Gretchen Jackson is an entrepreneur, mindset coach, speaker and author. She and her husband own Beyond Sound & Security. She is a founding member of the {shift}her mindset mastermind program for women and host of The {shift}her Podcast.

By now, you have seen news images and heard stories of Asian Americans being terrorized across the nation, simply because of their ethnicity. However, Anti-Asian sentiment isn't a new problem in this country or in Arkansas. Just days after a man went on an Asian killing spree and salons in Georgia, a fire captain in Bentonville was arrested and later resigned from his position after using his supremacy as a means to terrorize and attack an Asian man at Oaklawn in Hot Springs. These stories are disturbing and are becoming too common.

At Women Gather, we support the notion that it is our responsibility to be a part of the solution to protect others and to stand in solidarity against hatred and xenophobia. Today we are joined by Mariah Hatta and Susie Reynolds Reece, who are leaders in Central Arkansas as well as members of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.
