  • Come Follow Me Lesson | Enos | Book of Mormon
    Dru and Marianna will discuss the Book of Enos and the historical books of Jarom and Omni in the Book of Mormon. Enos has a life-changing experience with prayer. We can each learn from his experience and gain a better understanding of our own prayers. Gratitude needs to be a major part of our prayers. Enos remembered the words of his father, Jacob. Our children will often remember our words from their childhood and feel our prayers for them. The Lord forgave Enos of his sins and Enos immediately gave up his sins and his guilt. After gaining his own forgiveness, Enos's mind then went to his enemies who were also members of his family. He prayed for them and asked that they would have the opportunity to return to the Lord. The books of Omni and Jarom are also discussed, along with the history of the Nephites up to the time of King Benjamin. These records help us understand the importance of keeping family records, which can bring families back together. Through the Words of Mormon, we learn how following the promptings of the Spirit, even when we don't understand why, will often have a long-term impact on others and on the work of the Lord.

  • Come Follow Me Lesson | Jacob 1-4 | Book of Mormon
    Dru and Marianna discuss the beginning of the book of Jacob. Nephi has passed away and Jacob was called to be their next prophet. Jacob magnified his calling by teaching his people to repent of their sins. Some of the men were taking multiple wives and wounding the souls of many women. Jacob taught that the Savior heals our souls. We can become reconciled with God. Even though we have made mistakes, we can be forgiven. The Nephites were also becoming wealthy with gold, silver, and nice homes. Jacob was worried about their love of money. Instead, he taught his people to put their trust in God, not the riches of this world. Jacob’s words are as applicable to our lives today as they were applicable to the lives of the Nephites. We should treasure Jacob’s words.

    Dru and Marianna discuss how the Book of Mormon helps us understand more about the Savior and His mission. The prophets of the Book of Mormon bear specific testimony of Him. This is a continuation of the testimonies of the Savior found in the Bible. Because of the Atonement, we will be resurrected and have the opportunity to repent. In the Book of Mormon, we have the examples of Alma, Zeezrom, Moroni, King Benjamin, and others whose lives exemplify the enabling power of the Atonement. The Book of Mormon teaches us about the hope we can each have this Easter season.

Nephi always follows the Lord’s commandment. These chapters have some of Marianna and Dru’s favorite verses in the Book of Mormon. The doctrine of Christ is explained in these chapters. The Savior’s example and His doctrine is the only way to return back to Him.

    Dru and Marianna discuss Nephi’s vision of his people, his vision of the future of his record, and his vision of our day leading up to the Second Coming. He saw the dark, tragic end of his people but he also saw the light and joyous reign of the Savior here on earth. The Lord invites all of us to Come Unto Him.

When the Savior comes the second time, spiritual Babylon will be destroyed and Satan will be bound and Christ will reign on the earth.

We learn more about the words of Isaiah by likening Isaiah’s words to us today, by understanding the symbols Isaiah uses, and by the spirit of prophecy. As members of the house of Israel, we may have the Spirit’s help to understand Isaiah’s words.
