Join us for a 12-minute travel talk with Addie on today's episode of the Women Traveling Solo Together podcast!
If you haven’t been to a museum for a while, you might want to consider checking out the only museum solely dedicated to showing the works of women artist.
Adrienne Gayoso from the National Museum of Women in the Arts is very enthusiastic when it comes to getting others to learn more about the paintings and artworks from women artist across time, place and culture. Celebrating art made by female artists is very empowering and also important as it pushes the boundaries of social and gender expectations. It also breaks norms about becoming well-regarded women artists and professionals.
The museum is a real celebration of what women have done across time and it’ll be turning 31 years old this year. Addie encourages women and art lovers to visit and participate in the museum’s daily and weekly activities. Know more about their calendar of events by checking their website www.nmwa.org.
In addition to the art gallery collection, it also has a lovely library that is open during the week, a cafe, and a gift shop you could check before leaving the museum.
Most of all you can't visit the museum without seeing the only Frida Kahlo painting in the Washington D.C. area available for the public to see.
