In this episode of Women Who Lead and Scale, Aliya talks with Jingjin Liu about the pressures of being an Asian female founder trying to succeed in the world of business. They discuss different cultures and their attitudes towards work and money, as well as how nurture and upbringing can warp your priorities in later life. Jingjin shares her learnings that have ONLY come through experience and growth, particularly on how to thrive under pressure when all eyes are on you!
I built my career in male dominated global businesses, eventually became Global Marketing Director for the largest business unit at WABCO, where I oversaw an $800 million portfolio, led two global teams with around twelve direct reports, and helped grow annual revenue from roughly $600 million to $800 million. Early in that journey, I was thrown into a CEO QBR just two weeks into a senior role when my predecessor failed to show up. I learned fast that once you step into a leadership seat, the business is yours, full stop.
