Because God is our master, we have everything we need to respond to all of life without being sinful. Sin has no power over us because we have power through the Holy Spirit to yield our will to God's in obedience to his word.

At salvation we are given a new nature. We are no longer who we once were living in slavery to send. We have been given a new nature in Christ and have been freed from sin; therefore, we must no longer live in sin but instead pursue holiness.

A look at Jesus's command in Matthew 16:24 that those who wish to follow after Him must deny themselves, take up their cross and follow Him. We discussed what it looks like to deny yourself, and then how to continually walk that out by applying the fruit of the Spirit of self-control.

Where can we find rest and guidance for how to walk holy lives in a very unholy society? The writer of Hebrews has some very good news for us today. We are going to see two ways that Christ’s superior sacrifice on the cross affects our personal holiness: we are made holy through Christ’s superior sacrifice, and we are called to be holy because of Christ’s superior sacrifice on the cross.
