School foods are often high in refined carbohydrates, resulting in energy spikes and crashes, which are not conducive to optimal learning. Andrea Strong is the founder of the New York City Healthy School Food Alliance, and she has fought for years to bring healthier foods into schools so children can learn the benefits of nutrition and be set up for optimal health.
