This powerful story ultimately points us to Jesus Christ, the perfect sacrifice God provided to save us from our sins.

Because My Dad Promised Me | Romans 4

We live in a world of “maybe.” People change their minds. Circumstances change. Promises get broken. And if we’re not careful, we can begin to approach God the same way—wondering if He really means what He says.

But faith moves us from the world of maybe into confidence in the character of God.

In Romans 4, Paul points us back to Abraham. Abraham wasn’t made right with God because of his works, religious performance, or ability to perfectly obey. Scripture says, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.”

Even when every observable circumstance seemed to contradict God’s promise, Abraham kept believing. Why? Because God had promised.

And that same faith points us to Jesus. We are made right with God not because we have performed well enough, but because we believe in the God who raised Jesus from the dead—the One who was handed over for our sins and raised to make us right with God.

Faith isn’t confidence in my ability to perform.
Faith isn’t confidence that the circumstances are favorable.
Faith isn’t confidence that I can figure everything out.
Faith is confidence in God’s character to keep His promise.

When everyone else says, “Maybe,” faith says, “My Dad promised me.”

God uses people to disciple people. Just as a blade becomes dull through normal use and is sharpened through intentional friction, God uses relationships to expose our blind spots, challenge our assumptions, encourage us when we’re discouraged, and make us more like Jesus.

Glorious Ruins | Romans 3:1–20

What if our biggest problem isn’t simply that we do sinful things—but that sin has become a condition we live under?

In Romans 3, Paul makes a sobering declaration: “No one is righteous—not even one.” Every one of us was created in the image of God, designed to reflect His glory, and given incredible worth. But sin has distorted that image. We aren’t worthless—we are glorious ruins: still bearing the fingerprints of our Creator, yet broken by a power we cannot overcome on our own.

In this message, we explore what it means to be “under the power of sin,” why even our best efforts cannot make us righteous before God, and why the law was never meant to save us—it was meant to show us our need for a Savior.

And that’s where the good news becomes so powerful.

The clearer we see our need, the more clearly we see the greatness of Jesus’ love. Christ didn’t give everything for us because we had earned it. He gave everything because He loves us.

The blessing of knowing how sinful we are is discovering just how much we have been loved and forgiven.

A life on mission begins when what breaks God’s heart begins to break ours. God is calling us to open our eyes to the people around us, resist complacency, and courageously share the hope of Jesus.
