In this message, we conclude our study of Psalm 23.  We find that having journeyed with "My Shepherd" through the ups and downs of life, the writer, and the believer, are speak with confidence about loving care of God. We are able to live a life of  "dwelling in the house of the Lord" now and forever.

We see our Shepherd become also our Host. As a Host, He provides all that we would ever need or want, including the protection and covering of being in His care. The blessings that He pours out on us are not small, conditional, or limited by any means.  Instead, they are absolute, infinite, and complete. 

Pastor Darius Giles share about the God's ability to take the brokenness in our lives and redeem it. The Bible is filled with countless examples and statements regarding this. Not only is God able to redeem, but brokenness is a requirement for redemption to occur. Broken people are the only people that God uses.

Psalm 23:4 is perhaps the most recognizable passage in the entire Bible. We love this passage because we can relate to the times of walking through "the darkest valley". But, there is a message of hope in this passage.  That hope is found in the shepherd that doesn't just lead us "to" the valley; He leads us "through" the valley.

Psalm 23:3 tells us two things that "my shepherd" does.  In this breakdown verse 3, we will discover the beauty of this passage and how it so clearly points us to the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

We are studying Psalm 23:2. This verse follows the preceding verse (1) which is the thesis statement for the whole chapter: The Lord is my Shepherd, I have all that I need. Verses 2-4 are premises or reasons why the thesis is true. You could say that verses 2-4 tells us, "what my Shepherd does..." And we learn that he does two things: he leads us to rest and to peaceful streams. The sheep are completely dependent on the Shepherd to provide both of these things. Thus, we learn that rest and provision are the result of God's goodness and grace in our lives, not by works or ambition.

Psalm 23 is among the most beloved scriptures in the Bible. It has comforted readers for thousands of years. But, when we slow down and study this passage word for word, we discover that there is even more that we may have missed, include a clear gospel invitation. Join us as we study the first verse in Psalm 23, "The Lord is my Shepherd; I have all that I need."
