King Uzziah began his reign by seeking God, and the Lord wonderfully helped him. But what happened when this successful king became powerful and proud?
In this episode of Wonderfully Made: Bible Stories for Children, we discover the story of King Uzziah in 2 Chronicles 26.
Uzziah became king of Judah when he was only sixteen years old. As he sought the Lord, God helped him. Uzziah defeated powerful enemies, strengthened Jerusalem, built towers, developed the land, and led a strong army. His fame spread far and wide.
But when Uzziah became strong, his heart became proud.
Uzziah entered the temple and tried to burn incense, something God had appointed the priests to do. When Azariah and eighty courageous priests confronted him, Uzziah became angry instead of listening. The Lord humbled the proud king, and Uzziah lived with a serious skin disease for the rest of his life.
Through Uzziah's story, children will learn that our abilities, success, and strength are gifts from God. No matter how important or successful someone becomes, no one is above God's Word.
