  • A Mini Mesh Crochet Bag
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=wongi/wwmutvretp
    Hello love you people ✨
    Welcome to today's #needleworkMonday I hope we all had splendid weekends.it is always a pleasure showcasing my needlework and at the same time seeing how extremely talented other needleworkers are.
    ![20231009_071039_0000.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wX3n9WfaT9NfZ91cg2Ny2bYzvG3aym9mRCor5Gtc88AZHtX48LBrHrWg2GDBgqieUiB.png)
    [Edited on canva]()
    The needlework I will be sharing with you is an enantiomer of the original thing I will be making soon; depending on your response. Bags come in very handy but what if your bag was different and outstanding? Hence, my project for today.
    ![IMG_20231007_124012_691~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23xemx6hFhmJz71uNXjhhFRauSoBTuVHSydotRGz3Arj33YowAUfKb4U57HiwUCQyzYkP.jpg)
    The inspiration to make this bag came after an encounter with someone who knows I crochet. The person said that I do great with clothes but she would prefer accessories even better. When I asked what exactly she meant by "accessories", she mentioned bags first.
    ![IMG_20231007_124004_447~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wgQCECRfksL814e5GmAK9Au7zC9TCo2i2aZhDWrE9Lonu8oW88wYi51teB5JNBQq4PA.jpg)
    To be honest, the thought of making crochet bags didn't cross my mind before now. I thought to myself, "why not do a mini test run and see the outcome? If fellow needleworks and everyone in general like it, then you could think of making a larger size.
    ![IMG_20231007_154802_263~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23uFaRZyJgNxcrewzjCSqpXVFsB3qW8Cs26iYrTgdQZKdZSp5aggeKgwT1qNQp5pnQkEW.jpg)
    Making this mini bag was a really exciting experience. It was my second attempt using the mesh pattern with my first attempt being a disaster. As I was in the process of making the bag, I kept reassuring myself that mesh patterns are easy(*like my crocheter friend always says*) and that I can complete the project without making any mistakes.
    To make the bag, I used a 3mm hook. First, I started with the base of the bag. I made a chain of twenty-eight. For row two, I skipped two stitches and worked an increase of three into the third stitch. After the increase, I made double crochet stitches into every other stitch till I reached the last stitch.
    ![IMG_20231008_065838_957~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23xp49xNrq2JAWUTCxh2viJRtJNhApVs3tG88X4PQhnQXtAJFrwQoHijZuFNu2UtuBvzM.jpg)
    To make a curve, I worked six double crochet stitches into the last stitch. I continued from there with double crochet stitches into every stitch till the end. If you remember, initially , I started with a triple increase. So, I would also end with a triple increase and a slip knot. With this, my base was ready.
    After the base, it was time to start making the mesh patterns. I chained two, skipped one stitch and inserted my hook into the stitch. I continued this pattern till I got to the end. From there, the pattern was pretty much a repetition.
    ![IMG_20231009_061923_632~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23yd85WuaHwnzhDD5k1HpMjYJJDpmC1XDqQPFBSP8nF4sKQeANLwuwQHwefxkwYaWJity.jpg)
    I repeated this till I got to the twelfth row. At the twelfth row, It was time to make my bag handle. I inserted my hook at the ideal position for a handle and started making the mesh bag handle.
    After that, I joined the otter end of the handle to the other side of the bag and my mini bag was ready. I particularly liked this goldish-yellow colour. It's really distinctive and popping.
    To add more to the aesthetics of the bag, I made a little heart to go. The red colour really compliments the yellow colour so I thought, why not?.
    ![IMG_20231009_061935_190~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wqnf9SHgMbQBJ9UEDFCgEW8rbmwhoxUDhJcUPMTEMeVzyALUQ5R41JCCemHw5yD1Bhk.jpg)
    I was really pleased with the outcome but just to be sure my emotions weren't playing tricks on me, I sent a video to the friend who inspired me. She said she likes it very much and would be looking forward to a bigger size.
    How about you? Would you be looking forward to a bigger size? Are there any adjustments you would like me to add on the bigger size? What about the colour; which would you prefer. I am going to be taking everyone's comment into consideration so thank you In advance.
    *Until next Monday, stay creative and have a lovely Monday* 😇

  • Making A Mini Wallet
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=wongi/ewuwztsmrr
    Hello everyone ✨
    After going through the [prompts](https://peakd.com/hive-176874/@hive.ghana/weekly-engagement-wk-16-join-us-for-a-week-filled-with-exciting-activities) for this week, I immediately knew which one I was going to be responding to. Recently, I started making short videos of my crochet projects and it has been a really amazing journey. There's no doubt that making videos of a project actually doubles the amount of time one spends on a project but in the end, it's for the love of it.
    Uploading videos through 3speak using the app hasn't been easier. The process is fast and really smooth. If you haven't tried it out, you definitely should.
    The niche I picked for today is #needlework. I would be sharing with you the process involved in making a crochet wallet. Before going into the process proper, I must say that wallets are life savers. They come in very handy; especially for people who walk around with cash and tons of cards.
    The idea to make this wallet came out of the blues but after the completion of the project, I smiled. I smiled not because I had come to the end of the process but because I knew that I just made something that I would use for a very long time, especially for my cards. Without further ado, let me take you through the process.
    ![sep14.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/doze/23tGeRPwYGcaDyFpu73RFdrepekuyHP3xcb38HPMmkEu3wJtLWMKSzuxhfZcBkegxHS8F.png)
    ## Materials Used
    * Yarns
    * 3.5mm hook
    * A pair of scissors
    * Darning needle
    * A button
    * Stitch markers
    ![sep14.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/doze/23tGeRPwYGcaDyFpu73RFdrepekuyHP3xcb38HPMmkEu3wJtLWMKSzuxhfZcBkegxHS8F.png)
    ## Procedure
    ![IMG_20230923_121006_085~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23ynSX38Xmf1Jp4pnQDyksP6LfwvQjryfvBsPqZeoJ3nnzJrFS2yJ269FUvkAPy7XG1re.jpg)
    First of all, I sketched out the plan for my wallet. This part is very vital. After making the sketch I started making the wallet with a picture in mind.
    ![IMG_20230923_121533_497~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wCBnVeuMsechZcP722XaqQg3zHAjQjsNs8D5eUPJWMZYjfJceB6Wo8T24XsL2nmmYCD.jpg)
    For starters, I made thirty-eight chains. It is best to keep it at an even number as you would be folding the chains along the line.
    ![IMG_20230923_130020_087~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23y8wrwrARXCcQA5qpd8BggaShfTfTMCVycxkrAcJHrqia1GhdhCBUS9cz2cxCJqsSqHF.jpg)
    After making thirty-eight chains, I went back into the chains using a single crochet stitch. For the succeeding rows, I kept repeating this pattern till I got to the twelfth row.
    ![IMG_20230923_142103_402~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/48HBqNGxhULMMTSmF5e9KbSEfjVpqpAQTJ2Tabj3kRgahKcaUtPwyystZmutgaCAcY.jpg)
    After the twelfth row, I counted nineteen stitches and placed a stitch marker. This is because thirty-eight divided by two would give nineteen. From the nineteenth stitch, I kept repeating the initial pattern but only on the nineteen stitches. I did this for a total of twelve rows again.
    ![IMG_20230923_151427_671~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/EoK6PaHSk1vAFKYzZKYeGyvuCkQvzu5LUYcRnkKYr947CPEaSLHayX1htAw7LR3vbZA.jpg)
    By the end of the twelve half rows and twenty four rows in total, I made an extension of nineteen and made another twelve rows. This is to ensure that the wallet is balanced. So you would get twelve rows of thirty-eight chains, twelve rows of nineteen chains and another twelve rows of thirty-eight chains.
    ![IMG_20230923_170815_083~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23xyX876gov79UJRUBYz6AEfqrhdMKGLeki6BJrPqNzbcLbH7ftqYCfgjsaedGE7zxBEo.jpg)
    After that, it was time to make the outer covering of the wallet. For this part, I continued from where I stopped. The only difference however, was the stitch. I kept making slip stitches but I alternated between the original holes and the holes underneath. This gave it the leather-like appeal.
    After making an additional thirty-seven rows of alternating single crochet stitches, I made the little extension for the button.
    The final part of this project was the coupling phase. I coupled all the sides using a different shade of purple yarn. I just felt that adding a different shade would create a beautiful contrast. I was careful not to join all the openings. I left space for the centre of the wallet.
    ![IMG_20230923_185710_355~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wgQ7z9v9EpyYn292svLEy2LjfRd4aAJdQoGGoAqvVYTWBHoSFvYBHQWbbefMz1apAeN.jpg)
    With that, I was done with my project. I added my button and sewed in the loose ends. I would say it took me approximately four hours to make this piece. Those were the longest fours of my life.
    ![IMG_20230923_185544_874~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wWyBWPzqfSymPJSAgUnx5Awj2pYy5UAdzZmREgmYWgudtGbKPMhVHZzmepmUcGqknjr.jpg)
    Just a little tip: if you ever decide to recreate this, I would advise that you use a small hook and your stitches should be very tight. If the stitches aren't tight, you wouldn't get a firm wallet.
    ![IMG_20230923_191237_439~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/Eo6BF8hKAndCzBoTGVdy2zFowUw6HBnxGPPEbNMtfBPMkfBbdtHJ9fQ9bQwN5NjEtz7.jpg)
    So there you go, a mini crochet wallet that can come in very handy. I really should make this wallet in black colour, what do you think?I would love to hear your views on the project and on the short video too:)

  • A Crochet Phone Pouch
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=wongi/emfwlsjjrk
    Hello Diy Community ✨
    One of the worst things that come with phones are the transparent pouches. At first, they look so bright and beautiful and a few weeks later, they turn brown. I'm not a fan of transparent phone pouches as they put me at risk. Imagine walking on the road and everyone can see what brand of phone you're holding. Where I'm from, that is a very risky move. This alone can prompt strangers to borrow your phone(temporarily or permanently).
    ![png_20230922_133342_0000.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wgHYkuertG3xQTFVsiadbiWEh4GjvhcFovn3ba1NiXJEEus3Uh7VBrsrMggMz8xzTet.png)
    Because of this, I bought my phone a coloured pouch immediately after I got the phone. The army green pouch looks really beautiful but I felt like I should get an upgrade–a pouch with a different design. I searched far and wide but all I could see was the same pouch in different colours. *I'm sure you must have guessed the next thing that came to mind*. "Why not make yourself a pouch?" I said to myself".
    https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23tmHZjywwq48gontdSjLSssZ4rxnXiNesFQwWuWMa8zosWpvDiuEbK81fzKjPikvsp7n.jpg

    I know nothing about making pouches with yarns but I could always try. With that in mind, I set out to customise a pouch for my phone. With yarn, yay!
    ![sep14.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/doze/23tGeRPwYGcaDyFpu73RFdrepekuyHP3xcb38HPMmkEu3wJtLWMKSzuxhfZcBkegxHS8F.png)
    ## Materials Used
    * Yarns
    * 3.5mm hook
    * Yarn needle
    * A pair of scissors
    * A measuring tape
    * Paper and pen
    * Glue
    ![sep14.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/doze/23tGeRPwYGcaDyFpu73RFdrepekuyHP3xcb38HPMmkEu3wJtLWMKSzuxhfZcBkegxHS8F.png)
    ## Procedure.
    ![IMG_20230922_104234_079.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23tSmJ1g18h7Q9RrkT8B7i5L2Jv1UERFFa5Aa2vyPBkC9uAqPhdrWzXyqXLLxftvWuRP6.jpg)
    I started by sketching out a picture of what the pouch was supposed to look like. *My sketches are not perfect but hey, there can't be crocheting without sketching and measurement*.
    ![IMG_20230922_073852_388~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wC5ZxRTyWAqvFuv95sRrgtJTxmKnLwDPYJbUqEzkqhTr2QKUBDJomcw8emkELYeiMvG.jpg)
    After sketching I measured the length of my phone and with the measurement I made 35 chains. The 35 chains are the size of the phone lengthwise.
    https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23xATT2ZV4npiFzhQzkeczFYHTLhqC6u4tRuwJG8MckEe6NsfxZAvCUzJg2nRWHdH6MjM.jpg
    After making the base chains, I continued crocheting using the half double crochet stitches and single crochet stitches alternatively. Row after row I kept alternating till I made enough rows to cover the back of my phone.
    https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wWnLs3ZftcS8RmtyY2uJH8E7CfkEXbDcVimfo31effPWV5MHozmvMehhvUJ3G2dzu7s.jpg
    After that, it was time to make the extension and join both sides of the pouch. I made eleven chains on the side and seven chains at the top. After that, I joined the two ends using a slip stitch.
    ![IMG_20230922_093754_009~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23xKjtqv8szYxC4FgM9cyn6BbLQtbcG71ApVFtswqxVdNsFcazLjHmL7c2zEwE95axKAm.jpg)
    After the slip stitch, one phase of the phone pouch was done. The next phase was the sides and the edges. I used half double crochet stitches to make the side. At each corner, I made an increase by working two stitches into one hole. After making an increase, I skipped the succeeding stitch and continued making the half double crochet stitches into the following rows. This helps to give the curves to the edges.
    ![IMG_20230922_103920_056.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/EpEHqqHBdELk9e9RuEH2eYxxPM4RH4cmhoYxwzHUPaNVKAXweqhc4XtZnHSKW3QhtXB.jpg)
    After making the side, the pouch was pretty much ready. The last thing I did was to add flowers to the pouch. To make the flowers, I started by making a magic circle. After that, I worked twelve single crochet stitches into the magic circle, fastened off the first colour and added another colour. With the new colour, I made popcorn stitches using half double crochets.
    https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wByKQthW61FaLouRxKB2Q7s3dTSX4gJzEdUFmdMoncMyPmJZuPR5QoL6P5GTzwg8fQX.jpg
    The last thing I did was to attach the flowers to the pouch using glue. The glue would ensure that the flowers do not go anywhere.
    ![IMG_20230922_110255_760~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23xKhbDcjbdJj358LsijkNrsj8k4ScygdYrzCMSb49MWKf2zyAvDMpquq6v6F884XTRbL.jpg)
    With that, I was done with the pouch. It is really really bright and alluring. I plan on making the pouch in darker colours and possibly in different patterns too.
    ![IMG_20230922_110013_959~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wqbuR3HQKVQrE3d9BxkgKwReu56ZpeLs92kSK7BMUxaSTeG1iso5tTvprG29tVFASd1.jpg)
    So, what do you think of the pouch? Is it something you would readily carry outside? What about the colours? I would absolutely love to hear your views.

  • How To Crochet A Beautiful Flower
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=wongi/spransdipv
    Hello everyone ✨
    **How To Crochet A Beautiful Flower.**
    The #howto [contest](https://peakd.com/hive-151961/@diyhub/zarpmces) ends in five days and I thought I should make one last video before the deadline. Making shorts has been really fun for me as it's a process of learning, unlearning and relearning. If you haven't joined the contest,then it isn't too late to do so ;)
    ![IMG_20230915_091605_620~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/EoCgGGNRBADefwufHt26JfBGDqopvp2QHyEKHayjQPZTPUMfDdCF7YBRL9E6GqsgReh.jpg)
    For today, I will be showing you how to make a beautiful crochet flower in just three easy steps. Crochet flowers are really nice accessories to have around. If you are an artist or a crafter, you could always use crochet flowers to enhance your art. The flowers can be added to clothes, used as cup coasters, made into a flower bouquet; the options are endless.
    ![sep14.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/doze/23tGeRPwYGcaDyFpu73RFdrepekuyHP3xcb38HPMmkEu3wJtLWMKSzuxhfZcBkegxHS8F.png)
    ## Materials
    To make this flower, you would need
    * Yarns
    * Crocheting pin
    * Yarn needle
    * A pair of scissors
    ![sep14.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/doze/23tGeRPwYGcaDyFpu73RFdrepekuyHP3xcb38HPMmkEu3wJtLWMKSzuxhfZcBkegxHS8F.png)
    ## Procedure.
    First off, I started by making a magic circle. Magic circles could give some people a tough time but once you're done making your magic circle, then the rest of the project would be easier. Into the magic circle, I made eight single crochet stitches. Keeping it at an even number helps to ensure the evenness of your flower.
    https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23xp1xMJuG7jVvaFKGJa7XhZx7eBdvfqQVjWBeuhDZzew8F73oaKT1epgAxqS1WhwNPUT.jpg
    After making the single crochet stitches, I made a slip stitch and went ahead to make three chains. Into the same stitch where I made three chains, I made a double crochet stitch. This gives me the first pattern.
    ![IMG_20230915_110156_205~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wWpSPP16fcDU3qisVSJTETomcYSs5YrVPinve4uZAUmSkspRs38u2YW1BnjahdX6xgk.jpg)
    For the rest of the holes, I made two double crochet stitches. In the end I had sixteen lovely stitches. If you started with eight single crochet stitches and you worked two double crochet stitches into each hole, you should end up with sixteen stitches just like myself.
    ![IMG_20230915_110237_390~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wzzHPxTCWg2hfL6fPQZXc8Ds7ZPFnhNE1iottH3EatNngoUcU3AapwQsgCiLov18Vw3.jpg)
    After the sixteenth stitch, I made a slip knot and cut off my yarn. My little circle is ready. It's time to make the petals.
    ![IMG_20230915_110349_079~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23vho3x6ut2zYfeXUUbriq8FJ9EmXemYTGU6o64RDiNopNBjehjJspk1UUK6r7cuUPYxr.jpg)
    For the petals, I made a slip stitch into the yellow yarn with a different coloured yarn. After attaching a different coloured yarn, I made a chain of six , went over my yarn four times and into the next hole. I worked out all the stitches in twos. Into the same hole, I repeated this pattern three times. After the third repetition, I made a chain of six and slip stitched it into another hole. I repeated the whole pattern seven times.
    ![IMG_20230915_110657_078~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wMMSwQPWu7aP2P9mEWNsAbtTf8mMSfJxBrD2MeCiydkkkLdeVDLVayAdaPV859e8bLt.jpg)
    By the end of the seventh time, I did a slip stitch and cut off my yarn. The last thing I did was sew in my loose ends. After sewing in the loose ends, my flower was pretty much ready.
    ![IMG_20230915_112120_116~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23vhsdvFHzoYYmWKeJPuVcpyvvi4MZNQVS7yv2Ah7yeYzhBUzKvYea5nN8voU4pRZmDof.jpg)
    This is a really fun crochet project that anyone could try out in their spare time. To reiterate, I enjoyed making this flower and I couldn't hold back. I found myself making more and more of it. If care isn't taken, I may end up with a bouquet of crochet flowers by the end of today.
    ![IMG_20230915_091915_866~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wBfrEF1r6P5NP9kTKDZs46g8oDPhxrVPK3k2y39mdHXuykczEZCHHfvjpsrrzmNZPpP.jpg)

  • To Make An Hourglass
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=wongi/xokfrdwsfe
    Hello everyone ✨
    Has there ever been a time when you were working on a project on a "no-phone-day" but you still wanted to time yourself?. No-phone-days are necessary from time to time as sometimes, we need a break from looking at our screens. The simple remedy to this dilemma would be an hourglass. Yes?
    I got the inspiration to make this hourglass from a picture I saw on the pinterest app. I'm a person who likes to keep track of time and although I have wrist watches, I feel this hourglass is going to come in handy.
    The fun part of this hourglass is the fact that it is made solely from waste materials. It can be very satisfying to turn your waste materials into something very useful.
    ![sep14.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/doze/23tGeRPwYGcaDyFpu73RFdrepekuyHP3xcb38HPMmkEu3wJtLWMKSzuxhfZcBkegxHS8F.png)
    ## Materials Used.
    * Carton
    * Plastic bottles
    * A pair of scissors
    * Cutter
    * Glue/gum
    * Pencil
    * Yarn
    * Fine sand
    ![sep14.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/doze/23tGeRPwYGcaDyFpu73RFdrepekuyHP3xcb38HPMmkEu3wJtLWMKSzuxhfZcBkegxHS8F.png)
    ## Procedure.
    I started by gathering all the necessary materials needed for this craft. All the materials are readily available everywhere, making this craft a bit easier.

    I started with the plastic bottles. I chose a plastic bottle that a cylindrical shape so that the flow of the sand would be smooth.
    I cut off the top part(mouth) of the bottle and then I went ahead to smoothen the sharp edges with a heat source.
    ![IMG_20230907_170514_353~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23tvc9UpJsrVKPoibwBV87WpQr4xVtYHihsapHBqspUcRC64VLtS9BNiNb1U7JnJBAyJP.jpg)
    After smoothening the edges, I cut a little circle on another plastic and on this circle, I made a hole. The hole shouldn't be too big so that the sand doesn't gush out.
    After that, I went ahead to make the base of the hourglass. For the base, I used cartons. I cut the cartons into circles. I made four circles and joined them in twos. This gave me a somewhat thick base.
    ![IMG_20230907_170825_898~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23tmQ1rWt21ZpgzzxDPxUeuURV6oiAFmjKoBPct8BCNZugo6CzpJsLmKX7rXgyv1gibVo.jpg)
    With the base out of the way, it was time to make the two handles by the side. The handles must be firm enough incase you want to switch your hourglass to the opposite direction using the handle. I measured the distance between the first base, the two plastics and the last base. This gave me the length of my handle.
    ![IMG_20230908_073601_631~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/Eopsvg1nLh4RLLaAng8it68LLvjZUdtRzhFaXJzikEj1fQARSyZ8KGJ7rkSUz9ZBx64.jpg)
    Making the handle was the last thing but we aren't done. The final phase was the coupling phase. I started by joining the two cylindrical plastics; not forgetting to add the little circle in the middle. After that, I added the first base.
    With the base in position, it was safe to pour in the sand. At this point, I didn't know if it was going to work or not. 'Eager' would be the right word to describe how I felt. After pouring in the sand, I watched as it moved from one point to another. I couldn't be more proud of myself.
    When I finished pouring in the sand, I went ahead to cover the top with another carton. The final touch were the handles. With the handles in position, my hourglass was ready and it looked really precious and charming.
    ![IMG_20230908_124248_780~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wWnLyxRZ81q44V18QcTg4Wy9fh8EkMLeFZNm2dygiXRZVMysF3wBaDZkcLo69Yz9PGC.jpg)
    With that, I was done with my project. An hourglass to time yourself. Yay! Along the line, I realized that looking at the sand flow through the hole can be really sanative– therapeutic.

    I would love to hear you're views on the craft. What do you think about it? Would you like to have such an hourglass on your table?

  • NWM|| How To Make A Crochet Pouch Bag.
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=wongi/kkipmcfz
    Hello everyone ✨
    It is yet another beautiful Monday and I’m elated to share my new invention with fellow needlework enthusiasts in the #needleworkmonday community. For today, I made something that would come in very handy for many ladies.
    ![png_20230904_092456_0000.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23tvip3CZ7Hp3x1tc7nXkJ4CRwQ5fMzcNcHyMvt4sbDgbFiy1LfZgKcDrsznMbfFC1gSX.png)
    **Edited on canva**
    I do not like carrying so many items whenever I step out of the house. I like to keep it simple. However, on days when I have to carry so many items in a big bag, it can be hard to organise the little objects.
    https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23tSQTbZzXJFjTu9yti3WmfTSjapnt3bcU7AS4XYyAZZ86JJmk2Gsx8dnVDYz4v3XstwW.jpg

    There was a time when I stepped out with some money. I put half of the cash in my trouser’s pocket and the other half was inside the bag I carried. As I arrived at my destination, I searched and searched for the money I had put in the bag but to no avail. Lucky for me, the money in my pocket was enough to get me to my destination and back.

    ![IMG_20230903_104208_697~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23yJJHB9JkrBBudZFUdjmvAqsCBkgZd18q69r6z5sU2skbQCuWaXUSdPmX7q1aFnmxwU5.jpg)
    On returning home, I had to turn the bag inside-out in search of the money as I didn’t want to believe that someone had miraculously taken the money out. While scavenging, I saw the money, hidden in-between other large items. After this day, I made it a habit to always put my cash in a little purse or better still, place it in my pocket.

    Yesterday, while scrolling through the internet and thinking of all the possible ways to make my life easier, I came across a drawstring pouch bag and I loved it. It looked really portable. After a little deliberation, I decided to make one for myself (*I ended up making two*😅)
    ![IMG_20230903_132817_407~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23uFK5h3RmsPut1J9HK9vtHcJRikyLQdHAJBTZo1qDDR3uiFGB1xrxKKhHzT9gcUvsA4s.jpg)
    The fun part about this pouch bag is that it is made using granny squares. After making my first bucket hat with granny squares, I have loved making granny squares. As such, making this project was really pleasurable. I enjoyed each and every step from the circle to the popcorn stitches, to the squares and to the coupling of the bag.
    https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wWpHmxpe3PpeTbkB97rNcVyG5FZKcHuEUgNs2w1xDLSrfDmCbK5mprnQB5s2imjuVZ5.jpg
    First, I started by making a magic circle and putting eight double crochets into the circle. After making the double crochets with the brown yarn, I went ahead to make the popcorn stitches with a yellow yarn.
    https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23uQhygsuMXeUWS6quLHoi6WGV8c1vPwx9gu2RC5pAxr4beozD4ACAyMsbNfWj89Y8ZTw.jpg
    After the popcorn stitches, it was time to make the double layered squares using double crochet stitches. After making the squares, it was time to couple the bag together. I did that using single crochet stitches. Then I made the string.
    ![IMG_20230904_085836_622~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23wWs1pjYKU5pTQ18e6kAhXdWVnA1nYE11fcAdojBt2FkLXuLjN5PpCdvkJNLiTNUVrzz.jpg)
    To beautify the bag a little more, I made a little petal for the side and I also added a button at the end of the string.
    ![IMG_20230904_085936_602~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/23vhuGrRSTPegnQf73xc8skpZm5USugbpiEtyc7uDSTbuMV6LNLyN67FzK43wk2tnVLWd.jpg)
    This project was made mainly with leftover yarns. I have so many leftover yarns and so choosing the right combination of colours was a bit taskful but in the end, I came up with something. I like the blue pouch better as the colour isn’t so shouty. Which pouch do you like better?
    ![IMG_20230904_085747_505~2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wongi/EppLizToqRqofH1WWWQsWH7ZXkyUGWpsJjEJ2c9wfNzpjgF7iHHLaR66exqkw27Hctw.jpg)
    To prove how much I enjoyed making this piece, I made a video tutorial. **I didn’t know that making video tutorials can be so exhausting.**.
    I would really love to hear your views, recommendations and corrections as they help me learn and grow.

  • Experiments|| Baking a Cake with Alternative Ingredients
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=wongi/ymcczpef
    Hello food lovers✨
    I was surfing through YouTube and I saw an alternative way to make cakes. Before now, I was already craving cake but was too reluctant to order myself a piece.
    I came across a video and thought to myself, "why not just bake yourself a cake?". I looked through the ingredients and I saw that I had all the alternative ingredients at home and so I sprang up from bed and got to baking. It was already 10pm but I didn't mind.
    >**The ingredients**
    * Roughly 200g of Flour
    * 100g of sugar
    * 3 eggs
    * 120 ml of Milk
    * 80 ml of vegetable Oil
    * Baking powder
    * Vanilla flavour
    * nutmeg(optional)
    Normally, I use margarine to make my cakes. I was a little sceptical when I saw vegetable oil but still decided to try it out. Theres nor harm in trting right?
    >**Procedure**
    I like to divide my process two. Preparing the wet ingredients and dry ingredients.
    First, for the wet ingredients, I blended the egg with sugar in a blender ( in the absence of a cake mixer). After getting the foamy texture, I went on to add my vegetable oil, flavour and milk. Blend.
    Second, the dry ingredients. I sieved my flour into a bowl. After sieving, add your baking powder and grated nutmeg. Mix everything properly and you're almost done making your cake
    The third and final process involves you mixing the dry and wet ingredients together. I was after a particular consistency and so I kept adding flour till I got the consistency. I honestly didn't measure.
    Disclaimer: I'm not a professional chef but a person on an experiment.
    After getting my consistency, I oiled my pan. I used a small pan. After oiling, I put in my cake and went ahead to put the pan in the oven.
    I was really eager about the outcome and so I was hanging around the kitchen. In the end, I decided to take the cake and breakfast, as it was too late to eat. Fingers crossed.
    The cake came out really well. I think I'm going to try out this recipe once again, but on a larger scale. All the ingredients blended so well.
    Here is the video with the original recipe.
    https://youtu.be/vKTBBc13o88
    My cake came out a bit irregularly because I just put the cake into the pan without brushing the top, but the taste was divine.
    If you're like me and have been craving cake, why not try something new and different. If you follow the measurements, you won't regret it.
    With love, wongi ✨
