What does it take to go from your first open mic to opening for one of the biggest names in comedy?
In Episode 7 of the Woodburn Podcast, I sit down with Armando Santoyo, a Woodburn High graduate and stand-up comedian who has been performing across the West Coast since 2018.
Armando shares how he got started in stand-up, what it feels like to bomb on stage, dealing with anxiety before a show, and how he turns real experiences from marriage, parenting, growing up, and some of the harder moments in life into comedy.
We also get into the opportunity that led to Armando opening for Ralph Barbosa for five shows in three days, what he learned from the experience, and where he wants to take his comedy career next.
And we bring it back home. Armando talks about growing up in Woodburn and the upcoming comedy show at K-Bron Brewing Co. on August 29, 2026, where he'll take the stage alongside other Latino comedians.
This one has plenty of laughs, but there's also a lot of good conversation about taking chances, dealing with nerves, sticking with something when it isn't going your way, and enjoying the process.
