  • Love Your Enemies
    1 Samuel 24:1-22
    1) When Saul returned from following the Philistines, he was told, "Behold, David is in the wilderness of Engedi."
    2) Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel and went to seek David and his men in front of the Wildgoats' Rocks.
    3) And he came to the sheepfolds by the way, where there was a cave, and Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were sitting in the innermost parts of the cave.
    4) And the men of David said to him, "Here is the day of which the LORD said to you, 'Behold, I will give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.'" Then David arose and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul's robe.
    5) And afterward David's heart struck him, because he had cut off a corner of Saul's robe.
    6) He said to his men, "The LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the LORD's anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is the LORD's anointed."
    7) So David persuaded his men with these words and did not permit them to attack Saul. And Saul rose up and left the cave and went on his way.
    8) Afterward David also arose and went out of the cave, and called after Saul, "My lord the king!" And when Saul looked behind him, David bowed with his face to the earth and paid homage.
    9) And David said to Saul, "Why do you listen to the words of men who say, 'Behold, David seeks your harm'?
    10) Behold, this day your eyes have seen how the LORD gave you today into my hand in the cave. And some told me to kill you, but I spared you. I said, 'I will not put out my hand against my lord, for he is the LORD's anointed.'
    11) See, my father, see the corner of your robe in my hand. For by the fact that I cut off the corner of your robe and did not kill you, you may know and see that there is no wrong or treason in my hands. I have not sinned against you, though you hunt my life to take it.
    12) May the LORD judge between me and you, may the LORD avenge me against you, but my hand shall not be against you.
    13) As the proverb of the ancients says, 'Out of the wicked comes wickedness.' But my hand shall not be against you.
    14) After whom has the king of Israel come out? After whom do you pursue? After a dead dog! After a flea!
    15) May the LORD therefore be judge and give sentence between me and you, and see to it and plead my cause and deliver me from your hand."
    16) As soon as David had finished speaking these words to Saul, Saul said, "Is this your voice, my son David?" And Saul lifted up his voice and wept.
    17) He said to David, "You are more righteous than I, for you have repaid me good, whereas I have repaid you evil.
    18) And you have declared this day how you have dealt well with me, in that you did not kill me when the LORD put me into your hands.
    19) For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go away safe? So may the LORD reward you with good for what you have done to me this day.
    20) And now, behold, I know that you shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand.
    21) Swear to me therefore by the LORD that you will not cut off my offspring after me, and that you will not destroy my name out of my father's house."
    22) And David swore this to Saul. Then Saul went home, but David and his men went up to the stronghold.

  • Refining Trials
    1 Samuel 23:14-29
    14) And David remained in the strongholds in the wilderness, in the hill country of the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God did not give him into his hand.
    15) David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. David was in the wilderness of Ziph at Horesh.
    16) And Jonathan, Saul's son, rose and went to David at Horesh, and strengthened his hand in God.
    17) And he said to him, "Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Saul my father also knows this."
    18) And the two of them made a covenant before the LORD. David remained at Horesh, and Jonathan went home.
    19) Then the Ziphites went up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, "Is not David hiding among us in the strongholds at Horesh, on the hill of Hachilah, which is south of Jeshimon?
    20) Now come down, O king, according to all your heart's desire to come down, and our part shall be to surrender him into the king's hand."
    21) And Saul said, "May you be blessed by the LORD, for you have had compassion on me.
    22) Go, make yet more sure. Know and see the place where his foot is, and who has seen him there, for it is told me that he is very cunning.
    23) See therefore and take note of all the lurking places where he hides, and come back to me with sure information. Then I will go with you. And if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah."
    24) And they arose and went to Ziph ahead of Saul. Now David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah to the south of Jeshimon.
    25) And Saul and his men went to seek him. And David was told, so he went down to the rock and lived in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
    26) Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. And David was hurrying to get away from Saul. As Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them,
    27) a messenger came to Saul, saying, "Hurry and come, for the Philistines have made a raid against the land."
    28) So Saul returned from pursuing after David and went against the Philistines. Therefore that place was called the Rock of Escape.
    29) And David went up from there and lived in the strongholds of Engedi.

  • The Moral and Spiritual Decline of the Last Days
2 Timothy 3:1-5 1) But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2) For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3) heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4) treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5) having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

  • God Speaks In The New Testament – Part II
John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
John 16:7-13 7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. 12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

  • God Speaks In The New Testament – Part 1
Hebrews 1:1-2 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
1 Peter 1:10-12 10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. 12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.

  • A Centralized Government
Genesis 47:1-31 1) So Joseph went in and told Pharaoh, "My father and my brothers, with their flocks and herds and all that they possess, have come from the land of Canaan. They are now in the land of Goshen." 2) And from among his brothers he took five men and presented them to Pharaoh. 3) Pharaoh said to his brothers, "What is your occupation?" And they said to Pharaoh, "Your servants are shepherds, as our fathers were." 4) They said to Pharaoh, "We have come to sojourn in the land, for there is no pasture for your servants' flocks, for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. And now, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen." 5) Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Your father and your brothers have come to you. 6) The land of Egypt is before you. Settle your father and your brothers in the best of the land. Let them settle in the land of Goshen, and if you know any able men among them, put them in charge of my livestock." 7) Then Joseph brought in Jacob his father and stood him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed Pharaoh. 8) And Pharaoh said to Jacob, "How many are the days of the years of your life?" 9) And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my sojourning are 130 years. Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their sojourning." 10) And Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went out from the presence of Pharaoh. 11) Then Joseph settled his father and his brothers and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded. 12) And Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all his father's household with food, according to the number of their dependents. 13) Now there was no food in all the land, for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished by reason of the famine. 14) And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, in exchange for the grain that they bought. And Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house. 15) And when the money was all spent in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, "Give us food. Why should we die before your eyes? For our money is gone." 16) And Joseph answered, "Give your livestock, and I will give you food in exchange for your livestock, if your money is gone." 17) So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them food in exchange for the horses, the flocks, the herds, and the donkeys. He supplied them with food in exchange for all their livestock that year. 18) And when that year was ended, they came to him the following year and said to him, "We will not hide from my lord that our money is all spent. The herds of livestock are my lord's. There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies and our land. 19) Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for food, and we with our land will be servants to Pharaoh. And give us seed that we may live and not die, and that the land may not be desolate." 20) So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for all the Egyptians sold their fields, because the famine was severe on them. The land became Pharaoh's. 21) As for the people, he made servants of them from one end of Egypt to the other. 22) Only the land of the priests he did not buy, for the priests had a fixed allowance from Pharaoh and lived on the allowance that Pharaoh gave them; therefore they did not sell their land. 23) Then Joseph said to the people, "Behold, I have this day bought you and your land for Pharaoh. Now here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land. 24) And at the harvests you shall give a fifth to Pharaoh, and four fifths shall be your own, as seed for the field and as food for yourselves and your households, and as food for your little ones." 25) And they said, "You have saved our lives; may it please my lord, we will be servants to Pharaoh." 26) So Joseph made it a statute concerning the land of Egypt, and it stands to this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth; the land of the priests alone did not become Pharaoh's. 27) Thus Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen. And they gained possessions in it, and were fruitful and multiplied greatly. 28) And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years. So the days of Jacob, the years of his life, were 147 years. 29) And when the time drew near that Israel must die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, "If now I have found favor in your sight, put your hand under my thigh and promise to deal kindly and truly with me. Do not bury me in Egypt, 30) but let me lie with my fathers. Carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burying place." He answered, "I will do as you have said." 31) And he said, "Swear to me"; and he swore to him. Then Israel bowed himself upon the head of his bed.

  • The Antichrist and his kingdom – Part II
Revelation 13:1-18 1) And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. 2) And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear's, and its mouth was like a lion's mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority. 3) One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. 4) And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?" 5) And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. 6) It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7) Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, 8) and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain. 9) If anyone has an ear, let him hear: 10) If anyone is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if anyone is to be slain with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints. 11) Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. 12) It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed. 13) It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, 14) and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15) And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. 16) Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, 17) so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18) This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.
