Why do we pray? How should we pray? Questions many of us have likely wondered before. As we strive for growth in our relationships with God, prayer is a main way we get to know who God is and align our hearts with Him. This new year we are beginning a new series, Why Pray, looking at the High Priestly prayer Jesus prayed to examine why and how we should pray. So, why should we pray? To glorify God. When we pray, we are entering into a conversation with God, the Holiest of all. He loves to hear from His children, and through our time spent in prayer, we get to know who He is and grow in intimacy with our Father. When we acknowledge God as Father, Jesus as Son, and the glory of Christ we are glorifying God through prayer. What do you desire? Maybe it's material items, fame, and fortune. Or maybe it's deeper desires, like joy in hardship, fulfillment in life, or peace in chaos. Whatever you desire, Jesus can fulfill. This Christmas Eve we are finishing our series, Radiant, we’ll see how Jesus changes everything and that everything we could need He has it. Jesus’ birth changed everything. He fulfilled the prophecy that was foretold by Isaiah nearly 700 years before His arrival. Christ was the light amid darkness and the promised Messiah. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ this year, be encouraged that the coming of Jesus meets our deepest desires and needs. We are given a child born to humbly represent us, a divine king to righteously reign over us, and a savior to passionately rescue us. Jesus fulfills our every need, bringing us hope, joy, and satisfaction in our souls. Join us this Christmas Eve and reflect on what this season truly means for all of us. The war to find peace is an ongoing battle, it is a search that this world is constantly after. The world thinks peace comes from our inner life, but what does Christ say? As we carry on in our Radiant series, we will hear about how Jesus’ incarnation brings us peace. Life is unpredictable, we face loss and pain, at times it can feel like we are constantly being tossed in the waves of distress. So, how do we come up for air and find peace? Clinging to the faithfulness and certainty of Gods promises through these times, can serve as an anchor for our souls. As we wait for Jesus’ return, where He will eradicate war, pain, and loss, we should rejoice, pray, and serve in the meantime. The coming of Christ ultimately brings the death of war. We can press on with the hope that Jesus promises peace through the Holy Spirit, and we can live with intention in the meantime. We are continuing in our Advent series, Radiant, looking at the birth of Jesus and the importance it had then and what it means for us now. Jesus frees us from our captivity of sin and shame. Through His gift of relationship with Him, Christ frees us from the burden of sin, He crushes the pain of Satan’s accusations and defeats the tyrant of death. We are a people in desperate need of deliverance, to find liberty in Christs gift of salvation. We need His hope to change our lives and free us from the bondage of sin. May this bring encouragement to you that the coming of Christ brings liberty to enslaved sinners. Hear from Rev. How can we experience lasting joy? Not the temporary happiness that the world seems to be chasing, but  joy that withstands our circumstances. Last week we kicked off our Advent series, Radiant, diving into the hope that Christ holds and the gift that is found in Jesus’ birth. The light that the coming of Jesus brings us is eternal, He offers us hope and joy. In Him, we can experience forever joy—that never dissipates, even in the difficult parts of life. Jesus fills us with joy by growing our family, bringing us to a table of celebration, and giving us forever joy. Life throws us a lot of different joys, many bring us happiness, but when the joy of receiving goes away what are we left with? What hope we have in Christ—the light of joy, we get everlasting joy that isn’t dependent on circumstance or temporary pleasures. We are promised transformation and freedom in Christ when we turn from our sinful ways. Life often leaves us wanting more—success, power, achievement, popularity, and more. When we seek our confidence and identity in what is elusive, we will be left feeling unfulfilled. However, God’s Word is clear where satisfaction can be found and it’s in surrendering our lives to Jesus and living for His Kingdom. Who are you sharing the Gospel with in your everyday life? Maybe you are more reserved when it comes to spreading the love of Christ or maybe it's something that comes naturally to you, either way scripture tells us about the joy it brings to communities when it is shared. This Sunday, we will hear from Pastor Chris about sharing the joy of the Gospel. In the church, it's important for us to have leaders who teach the Gospel and members who take the Gospel and to share it with neighbors who need the Gospel. This week we are finishing our study through the book of Galatians, learning the Good News of Christ and the freedom found in salvation through Jesus. In the final chapter, Paul addresses the church urging them to keep each other accountable and to bear one another's burdens. As we strive to walk in the Gospel we must keep in step with God's spirit. We can do this by immersing ourselves in Christ-centered community and freedom. God gave us the gift of fellowship; we have each other to lean on and to have accountability as we walk in the light of God's spirit.
