John and Will bring you their weekly What We’re Watching episode where each host brings you three suggestions of what they’ve watched in the last week.
- Losers: Will’s first suggestion was an eight part docu-series on Netflix called Losers. This series focuses on athletes who have failed spectacularly, on big stages, and how they bounced back from those losses. The official IMDb description reads: “In a "winning is everything" society, how do we handle failure? This series profiles athletes who have turned the agony of defeat into human triumph.” The episodes focus on a boxer, a soccer team, a figure skater, a marathon runner, a dog sled racer, a curling team, a golfer and a basketball player.
Toy Story 4: John recommends the latest installment in the Pixar franchise Toy Story. Centered around a new toy owner named Bonnie, this movie is about Woody and Buzz constantly trying to protect a homemade toy named Forky. Mojave - Will’s next pick is an A24 film starring Garrett Hedlund, Oscar Isaac and Mark Wahlberg. In this film Hedlund stars as a filmmaker who has had enough of life and goes to the desert to contemplate his life, and suicide. Oscar Isaac is a mysterious drifter who does not appreciate Hedlund taking his life for granted.Stuber - John suggests the Dave Batista and Kumail Nanjiani buddy/action comedy about a detective who gets laser eye surgery and needs to be chauffeured by an Uber driver. Under the Silver Lake - Will brings us another A24 movie, Under the Silver Lake. This movie stars Andrew Garfield and Riley Keough. Garfield plays a down on his luck guy, facing eviction, who goes on a wild investigation to find a missing girl from his apartment complex. The search leads him to WWE Extreme Rules - John brings the first live event to the What We’re Watching series. He attended Extreme Rules, a WWE event. While the event is over, it can be viewed on the WWE Network, a cable channel and app. Thank you for listening to another edition of What We’re Watching. This series hopes to bring our listeners fresh suggestions of what to watch every week.
