God takes Joseph down to prison before he is elevated to a high position in Egypt. The affliction softens him, making him tender-hearted towards others.

Two short and instructive parables of Christ. The first emphasising that one cannot just add aspects of Christianity to one's life. The old life is to be discarded. The second empasises our need for conversion. Without it we cannot hold the new spiritual life.
