The day my hard drive failed


#glitch

G-L-I-T-C-H

a sudden, usually temporary malfunction or irregularity of equipment.

  1. A glitch in the hard disk led to major data losses when I attempted to migrate my files.
  2. When a glitch is discovered in the system, people exploit it in all imaginable ways.


#corrupt

C-O-R-R-U-P-T

made unreliable by errors or alterations; dishonest or immoral of a person

  1. When corrupt sectors are present on a hard drive, they make your data wrong or unreadable.
  2. The judicial system was once so corrupt that you could get away with murder if you bribed handsomely.


#recover

R-E-C-O-V-E-R

to return to a normal state of function or health.

  1. The bad sectors were physically damaged, preventing me from recovering them at all.
  2. This incident gave me a tough day, but I shall recover tomorrow.


#rebuild

R-E-B-U-I-L-D

to build something again after it has been damaged or destroyed.

  1. In order to rebuild a reliable system, I need to buy new hardware and replace the old one.
  2. Life is not a static balance at the perfect point, it is constantly breaking down and rebuilding.


#wipe

W-I-P-E

to remove or eliminate completely; to clean or dry by rubbing its surface.

  1. Before recycling that old hard disk, I must wipe out all data, so nobody else finds out about my secrets.
  2. Wipe off your tears and look forward, it's not the end of the world.
