#statistics S-T-A-T-I-S-T-I-C-S

The practice or science of collecting and analyzing numerical data in large quantities, especially for the purpose of inferring proportions in a whole from those in a representative sample.

  1. Mean, median and standard deviation are examples of descriptive statistics.
  2. Everytime you log into Facebook or Google, the tech giants will collect statistics about your behavior.


#chaos C-H-A-O-S

Complete disorder and confusion.

  1. If you look at the movement of a gas molecule, its track appears like total chaos.
  2. As the power and water supply went out, the once thriving city fell back into chaos.


#order O-R-D-E-R

The arrangement or disposition of people or things in relation to each other according to a particular sequence, pattern, or method.

  1. When you change the order of a sequence, it’s the same combination but a different permutation.
  2. Order breaks down through time naturally while its restoration and maintenance requires constant input of energy.


#random R-A-N-D-O-M

Made, done, happening, or chosen without method or conscious decision.

  1. If you roll a fair dice, it should give you random outcomes.
  2. You can randomize the sampling process to eliminate personal bias.


#certainty C-E-R-T-A-I-N-T-Y

Firm conviction that something is the case.

  1. Standard deviation is a parameter that measures uncertainty.
  2. Can you tell with certainty that tomorrow is going to be a sunny day?
