Can you have spiritual gifts and still be spiritually immature? In this episode of Word On The Way, Nicole McKay and Vanessa Trinidad begin a chapter-by-chapter Bible study through 1 Corinthians.
In 1 Corinthians 1, Paul confronts a gifted church struggling with division, pride, and misplaced loyalty to leaders. We explore six practical areas of spiritual growth, including handling conflict, receiving correction, pursuing unity, and keeping Jesus at the center.
We also examine Chloe’s household and the difference between gossip and biblical accountability. What do the Hebrew and Greek words for gossip reveal—and how can we tell whether we’re spreading a problem or helping solve it?
In this Bible study:
• Spiritual gifts versus spiritual maturity
• Church division and following Christian leaders
• Chloe’s household: gossip or accountability?
• Hebrew and Greek words for gossip
• The power and wisdom of the cross
• Growing in humility and giving Jesus the glory

Did the Apostle Paul actually call a woman an apostle? And why did Bible translators call Phoebe a "servant" when Paul used the same Greek word for himself and other ministers?
In this episode of Word On The Way, Nicole McKay and Vanessa Trinidad dive into Romans 16 to uncover some of the most overlooked details about women in the early church.
We're going back to the original Greek to investigate what Paul actually wrote about Phoebe, Priscilla, and Junia—and why these passages continue to spark theological debate.
Was Phoebe a deacon or minister? Did Priscilla teach the preacher Apollos? Was Junia really a female apostle? And how do these passages fit with Paul's other teachings about women in the church?
In this Romans 16 Bible study, we explore:
The Greek word diakonos and how Paul used it for ministers, deacons, and Phoebe
Why the King James Version translates Phoebe's title differently
Phoebe's possible role in delivering the book of Romans
Priscilla's role in teaching Apollos
The Greek evidence for Junia being an apostle
What early church leaders believed about Junia
The meaning of "notable among the apostles"
Women who labored for the gospel
Paul's warnings about division and false teaching
The promise that God will crush Satan under our feet
The powerful conclusion to the book of Romans
This isn't about forcing Scripture to support a position. It's about examining what the Bible actually says in its original language and historical context.

What if one of the biggest problems in Christianity today is that we've made following Jesus all about ourselves?
We want a church that meets our needs, worship that fits our preferences, and a Christianity that doesn't inconvenience us. But Romans 15 challenges that mindset with a powerful truth: Even Jesus didn't live to please Himself. So why do we?
In this episode of the Word On The Way Podcast, Pastors Nicole McKay and Vanessa Trinidad dive into Romans 15 to discuss Christian unity, spiritual maturity, putting others before ourselves, and what it means to truly live like Jesus.
But there's another powerful question in this chapter: Should the Gospel only be preached, or should we expect to see it demonstrated through the power of the Holy Spirit?
In Romans 15:18–19, the Apostle Paul describes his ministry through words, deeds, mighty signs, and wonders by the power of God's Spirit.
We serve the same God today. Are we still expecting Him to move?
🔥 IN THIS ROMANS 15 BIBLE STUDY:
Why strong Christians are called to carry the weak
Why being right doesn't give us permission to be unloving
The difference between Christian unity and compromising biblical truth
How Romans 15 builds on the personal convictions discussed in Romans 14
What Paul meant by preaching the Gospel through signs and wonders
Why Christians should still believe in the power of the Holy Spirit
Why reaching the lost matters more than staying comfortable
How genuine faith produces generosity, service, and love for others
📖 KEY SCRIPTURES
Romans 15:1 (KJV)
"We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves."
Romans 15:19 (KJV)
"Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ."
Also discussed: Romans 14, 1 Corinthians 2:4–5, Acts 4:29–30, and Mark 16:20.
💬 LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!
Do you think Christianity today has become too focused on personal comfort and preferences?
And do you believe the church should still be seeing miracles, signs, and wonders?

Can something be a sin for YOU but not another Christian? And are Christians judging each other over things God never actually called sin?
In Romans 14, Paul confronts a problem that still divides churches today: believers turning personal convictions into rules for everyone else.
Join Nicole McKay and Vanessa Trinidad on Word On The Way as we discuss Christian liberty, holiness, legalism, judging others, and what the Bible really teaches about personal convictions.
We tackle questions like:
Can something be wrong for one Christian but not another?
What's the difference between biblical commandments and personal convictions?
Does offending someone mean you've caused them to stumble?
When should Christians correct one another?
Are we defending biblical holiness or simply our own traditions?
From entertainment and clothing to worship styles and church traditions, Romans 14 challenges us to examine how we treat other believers.
Just because God convicted you about something, does that mean everyone else has to live by your conviction?

Does God expect Christians to obey bad leaders? What happens when the person in authority is wrong—and where does submission to authority end and obedience to God begin?
In Romans 13, Paul tells believers to submit to governing authorities, but he was writing to Christians living under the Roman Empire. So does Romans 13 mean Christians must obey everything a government or leader tells them to do? What about the biblical examples of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and the apostles who chose to obey God rather than man?
In this episode of Word On The Way, Nicole McKay and Vanessa Trinidad walk through Romans 13 and discuss biblical submission, honoring authority, paying what we owe, what genuine Christian love looks like, spiritual complacency, holiness, and Paul's urgent command to WAKE UP.
We'll also tackle a powerful question: Are we sometimes asking God to deliver us from something we're still making provision for?
If I only submit when I agree, I'm not really submitting—I'm agreeing.
Eventually is one of the most dangerous words in Christianity.
Don't ask God to starve what you keep feeding.
Romans 12 told us to be transformed. Romans 13 shows us what it looks like to live as someone who has been transformed.
The night is almost over. The day is coming.
Wake up. Take off the darkness. Put on Jesus.

Can you follow Jesus and stay the same? In Romans 12, Paul shows us what a truly transformed Christian life should look like—and it goes far beyond simply saying you believe in Jesus.
In this episode of Word On The Way, Nicole McKay and Vanessa Trinidad walk through Romans 12 and discuss what it means to become a living sacrifice, renew your mind, discover and use your spiritual gifts, love people genuinely, stay spiritually on fire, and respond differently when people hurt you.
Romans 12 challenges us to stop conforming to the patterns of this world and allow God to transform the way we think and live. What happens when someone really did you wrong? Does forgiveness mean they should still have access to you? How do you keep your spiritual fire burning? And what does it actually mean to overcome evil with good?
The Gospel isn't supposed to leave us unchanged. A renewed mind should eventually produce a transformed life.
You can't follow Jesus and stay the same. You should look different.

What happens when receiving God’s grace starts making us think we’re better than the people who still need it?
In Romans 11, Paul gives a serious warning to believers: “Be not highminded, but fear.” Israel’s unbelief, the remnant, hardened hearts, the olive tree, Gentiles being grafted in, the fullness of the Gentiles, and the promise that “all Israel shall be saved” all lead us to a powerful truth—we have absolutely no reason to boast.
In this episode of Word On The Way, Nicole and Vanessa walk through Romans 11 and answer questions like: Has God rejected Israel? What is the remnant? What does it mean when God hardens a heart? Who are the natural and wild olive branches? What does it mean that Gentile believers were grafted in? What is the fullness of the Gentiles? What does “all Israel shall be saved” mean? And what does Romans 11:29 really mean when it says “the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable”?
We also confront the danger of spiritual pride and those dangerous words: “I would never…”
Because when we forget how much grace WE needed, it becomes easy to look down on the people who need grace now.
🔥 Grace doesn’t give you permission to look down on somebody. Grace reminds you that God had to reach down for you.
🔥 We want mercy for our weaknesses and justice for everybody else’s.
🔥 Don’t keep saying “no” to God and assume your heart will always be soft enough to say “yes” later.
🔥 You aren’t a trophy of your goodness. You’re a testimony of His mercy.
Romans 11 ultimately brings Jews and Gentiles back to the same place: we all need the mercy of God, and salvation is found in Jesus Christ.
Paul ends the chapter not in pride or argument, but in worship:
“For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” — Romans 11:36

“God knows my heart.” We hear it all the time—but is that actually what the Bible teaches?
Romans 10 makes an incredibly clear statement about salvation: “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” So yes, the heart matters. But is simply saying “God knows my heart” enough?
In this episode of Word On The Way, Nicole and Vanessa walk through Romans 10 and unpack what Paul teaches about faith, salvation, confession, righteousness, hearing the Gospel, and calling on the name of Jesus.
We’re answering questions like: Can someone believe in God without surrendering to Jesus? Why does Romans 10 connect believing in your heart with confessing with your mouth? Can being sincere make you right with God? What does “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” actually mean? And why does Paul say faith comes by hearing the Word of Christ?
Romans 10 reminds us that salvation isn't about earning our way to God through religious works—but it also doesn't reduce Christianity to “God knows my heart.” The Gospel calls us to believe, confess, call on Jesus, and respond to the truth we've heard.
Whether you're studying Romans, wrestling with questions about salvation, or you've used the phrase “God knows my heart,” this conversation is for you.

Romans 9 is one of the most debated—and misunderstood—chapters in the Bible.
Does God choose who gets saved and who doesn’t? Why does Paul say, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated”? What does it mean that God has mercy on whom He wants to have mercy? Does Romans 9 eliminate free will? And most importantly… can God be trusted?
In this episode of Word On The Way, we walk through Romans 9 and tackle the difficult questions surrounding God’s sovereignty, election, mercy, Israel, Pharaoh, the potter and the clay, and human responsibility.
Rather than pulling individual verses out of context, we look at Paul’s entire argument and ask what Romans 9 is really saying—and what it means for believers today.
If you’ve ever struggled with Romans 9 or wondered whether God chooses some people for salvation and others for destruction, this conversation is for you.
