April is the Month of the Military Child, and in this episode we interview three of our girls to discuss what it means for them to be a military kid. Our kids go through many challenges; two of the biggest are the frequent absences of the military member parent and the constant moves the family makes. Because Sunee's family is PCS'ing in a few weeks, we focus in on how the moves affect the military child and how we as parents can help our kids transition well.

For our last "together in Hawaii" interview, we talk with our good friend, Angel Jackson, about her children's education. The Jacksons have used public school, homeschool, and hybrid schools. The path is never linear, but we can trust God with our children's education, and more importantly, with their walks with Him.

Today's episode was recorded in two different locations: Jess's school room and Sunee's closet! We are learning how to put together podcasts remotely so we can continue Word to the Wives when Sunee's family PCS's in a month. Please pardon the sound issues. We are still figuring things out! In this episode, we talk about how our friendships have weathered our many transitions. Memories are important to build and to cherish. Prayer is foundational. And ultimately, the Lord is the One who graces us with each special friend in each season. Thanks for letting us reflect on our own friendship as our time together in Hawaii is coming to a close.

Jess's good friend, Kristi Walkup, is visiting the Whittets here in Hawaii, so we took advantage of the visit to get in a podcast episode! Their friendship goes back to their kids' toddler days. Kristi and her husband have an amazing testimony of following and finding purpose in the Lord's plans. We are reminded to minister right where we are, even as we make plans for our futures. God is the best planner!

Sunee's good friend, Melissa, tells us how she connects with God daily in the midst of her busy home with five kids! Our lives are all busy on some level, and it's difficult in all kinds of seasons to stay close to God in the chaos of our day. We discuss some principles and practical tips we've discovered in our own faith journeys with the Lord.

Have you ever flown Space A? Sunee just came back from a relative's funeral her whole family got to attend because of Space A. Jess has done several trips using Space A, including visiting her husband in Korea during his year-long unaccompanied tour. We talk about the good, the hard, and the how to's in our Space A adventures and hope you will share your experiences too!

Join us for episode 9 where we meet Jess' friend, Catherine Hostetler. Catherine grew up in the military, married a sailor, and is decluttering her house to get ready for their upcoming ETS! As a work-outside-the-home-mom, Catherine offers up time management hints as well as tips for preparing meals for busy days. Her life is growing, unfolding like a flower, and blesses her husband, her daughter, and us!

Our guest for Episode 8 is Sunee's good friend, Yuki Rodriguez. Her story includes how she met her husband, how she became a Christian, and how her second labor and delivery went. Through her story, we are reminded that when we give control over to God in the midst of pain and hard times, He shows up and gives perfect peace to those who trust Him.

In today's episode, Sunee and Jess outline one way to envision a purposeful year by choosing a word of the year, setting goals, and planning realistically. We encourage you to grab a pen and some paper to think through where you've been, where you are, and where you are going in order to see the themes God is growing in your life. From these themes you will be able to choose a word of the year, which in turn will inform your goals and plans to make for a blessed 2019!
