  • EP. 44 WTYM 1 year anniversary: Ritzy P & The Supernatural Bear reflect

Feliz 1 year Anni to us!!!

That is correct! A full year of podcasting during a pandemic, an election, a run off election, pandemic part deux, mad personal mental stuff and more. We have made it to the other side. We are here.

In this short episode Ritzy P and The Supernatural Bear reflect on the first year of WTYM. How it has evolved, what has been surprising and what is new.

    The Supernatural Bear Corner
During The Supernatural Bear corner, The SNB (8yrs old) shares a few hot takes, fave moments and answers the “Not So Rapid Fires Questions the aka Slow As Hell Questions”.

Gracias to every single guest that has taken time out of their super busy schedule to have a convo and share their stories.

Gracias to all our supporters. Thanks for listening. For telling your folks, telling your friends and telling your peeps. Thanks for leaving reviews. Thanks for donating. Thanks for being a patron.

Special shout out goes to EP 28 guest Maricel Sison for taking the photo used in the background of most WTYM images. It is a photo of The Supernatural Bear and I on stage watching his papa bear and his uncles perform at the Shrine in Los Angeles. That photo encapsulates so much of our non traditional life.

Special shout out goes to our mad talented nephew Niko Beats that produced our intro/outro. He is the owner of both Oasis Music Library and Oasis Recording Studios . As mentioned in this episode please check out his collab with Huey Briss, Grace Park Legend (The Documentary version)

Stay tuned next week for the 1 year Anni wrap up of Relatives with Ritzy P and Nyysha S.

After that, if all goes well, we will wrap up our 1 year anni month with a special convo with The Supernatural Bear’s papa bear, Rakaa (He promised the SNB that is the only reason why it is going down). Please dm us or email us with any questions.

  • (Repost) EP. 43 Dr. Rachel raimist: From Rap Life to PH.D. to the Ava Effect to the Dr. Raimist Effect

    Happy Labor Day
    Originally dropped Sep. 29 2020

Dr. Rachel Raimist - Director, Professor and Community builder

Dr. Raimist’s story is inspirational. We spoke the morning after we all lost Ruth Bader Ginsburg and our convo was for sure appropriate. We get into how it feels being the only woman, and sometimes the only person of color in white male dominated spaces. We discuss her journey of being a single mom in that “Rap Life”, getting her PH.D, getting tenure at the University of Alabama then leaving that tenure to pursue her dream of directing again. She shares how she met Ava DurVernay during “Rap Life” and how she was later, impacted by the Ava effect. Dr. Raimist now has multiple tv director credits including Queen Sugar, Greenleaf and Roswell with more on the horizon. I make sure during our convo to point out that Dr. Raimist has been uplifting other women and so many others since I’ve known her and it is amazing to see her thrive.
