This is a very special week. It commemorates our Lord and Savior willingly taking our place on the cross and taking our punishment in order that we may join Him in heaven for eternity. It was an act of pure love. There is no time more sacred and I hope that everyone will be in worship service this Sunday thanking God almighty for what he did for us. It is also a time to celebrate. The Bible states that death and satan were defeated and the curse upon mankind was lifted with Jesus on Easter Sunday as He arose from the grave freeing all of those who accept Him as their Lord. I find forgiveness to be one of the most interesting subjects in the Bible. To forgive someone seems to be on a difficulty level akin to asking a Viking not to fight. And yet those of us who have asked for forgiveness for our terrible black sins have been forgiven. I admit that forgiving those who have greatly wronged me is very difficult. Yesterday I related that I was in a rut and many responded and most indicated that they too were in a rut. It was refreshing to hear that I was not the only one, once again proving the old adage that misery loves company. Perhaps the best response received for the day was this excerpt: “Ah yes Bob, ruts and change are part of this life we all have to deal with. Most don’t put their finger on it like you have. I will pray with Judith for God’s direction for you and your powerful ministry. We know the saints of old had theirs. As I studied Chapter four of Luke this morning one thing that caught my eye was that when Satan finished trying to tempt Jesus in the desert he departed to wait for an opportune time. Luke 4:13 – “When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.” It seems that he does not just tempt people indiscriminately but looks for an opportune time when we are at a weak point and prone to give in, or when our worldly lusts and desires overwhelm our need to serve God. Happiness, billions pursue it few ever realize it. I am the acquaintance of many very wealthy people and it seems that they don’t enjoy happiness any more than those who are barely getting by and in many cases not as much. I know one gentleman who probably doesn’t even have an idea of how much he owns. Most people in this country have an opinion about immigration. Many like me consider it an invasion rather than immigration. Recently former President Obama weighed in and said that if people come here, they should learn the language and assimilate. I have a friend who is going through a rough patch and he is not taking it very well. In fact, he acts like a spoiled brat and is whining at every opportunity. I was severely physically abused as a young child and it was no fun.
