I got an email from a friend in Montana who wrote: The wife of a fine Christian couple we have known for years died from COVID yesterday. She was lucid until the end, saying, “I know where I’m going and I’m ready to go”. The husband has Alzheimer’s and when brought to the hospital didn’t recognize her. I just finished my study of the book of Isaiah, and I came away from it with a profound appreciation of God’s holy attributes and power. I also am bewildered at the enormity of what God has created. I was reading Isaiah chapter 62 as my Bible study chapter today and in verses 1-5 it speaks to Jerusalem and the return of its people from exile. The passage is a partial fulfillment of those times but will find greater fulfillment at the second coming of Christ. “You shall no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall your land any more be termed Desolate: but you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for Jehovah delights in you, and your land shall be married And the Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory: and you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2021/11/sweet-beulah-land/

I awoke this morning thinking of two of my best friends, TK Wetherell and Jack – “Murf the Surf” – Murphy, who have both gone on to be with the Lord. I did not agree with much said by Beatles superstar musician Jon Lennon, but I agree with one of his quotes: Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans. Another terrific musician said something along similar lines. Check out Reggae superstar Bob Marley: Open your eyes – look within. Are you satisfied with the life you’re living? I find it sad that both were cut down at such a young age, Lennon by an assassin and Marley by Melanoma. I feel sure neither thought that life would end so prematurely. I read a rather humorous story the other day. A fourth-grader celebrated his birthday on crutches, so he couldn’t carry his birthday cake into school without help.
